So, as you probably remember, the release of the new version of Windows by many retailers was positioned as a new surge in sales of PCs and laptops. In the end, nothing like this happened, but because in the eyes of many, Windows 8 looks like another "Microsoft failure." Of course, in the eyes of some home users, the reason for the unpopularity of the new system is quite different, but we are talking about the industry. So did the expected Windows 8 (the date of release in Russia change so often) become "the beginning of the end" of the computer market?

As it seems to us, everything was completely different. To begin with, the highly esteemed retailers once again gave a flick. Well, you can not compare Windows 8 & Vista, if only because it's different systems that came out at different times. Judge for yourself: in many respects Vista's output was recognized as "unsuccessful" because it "worked poorly" on computers of that time. How else? Then a ball rule XP, rather comfortably managed 256 MB of RAM. And the new system required a minimum of 1GB! It was something to come in shock.

But let's think about it: did everyone have enough 256 MB? In those years, there were games, for the normal operation of which just needed at least 2 GB of RAM (we send greetings to ClearSky and the deceased STALKER project). Ultimately, the release of Windows 8 did not have a strong impact on sales of computers precisely for this reason. On the computer on which Vista was working comfortably, it worked no less comfortably as the "Seven", and ... yes, Windows 8 also functions perfectly on "old machines". So why should users update their computers?

Yes, the eighth version supports touch screens, 3D printers and much more, but do you often use all this in your daily routine? We do not think so. But what does not take away from the new version is the actual novelty, speed of operation and integration with many useful servers on the Internet. From this perspective, the release of Windows 8 was the same step that Microsoft had been waiting for for many years. In addition, a certain popularity of the upcoming "tiled doctrine" was given by the OS for smartphones with the same serial number. Yes, Windows Phone 8, the release date of which was set for the same October, spurred the interest of many potential buyers and its "older sister".

And there was why! After all, for the first time, Windows is not just an operating system, but a full-fledged ecosystem in which you can combine not only your PC or laptop, but a smartphone with a tablet! Full synchronization and unification not only convenient and practical look, but also really comfortable in everyday life and work. In a word, do not consider the output of Windows 8 as a mistake of the Microsoft team. Rather, it is a way out of the impasse, in which all the same Windows 7 would eventually come, repeating the destiny of the long-lived HR. Recall that the "publicly beloved" system was so long delayed in the market that it no longer supports most modern hardware.
