Harvey Dent (Two-faced) - the character of films about Batman

Harvey Dent - a negative character from the comics of Batman. The former prosecutor of the city of Gotham, whose face was disfigured, hates Batman with all his nature and always stands against him. The character appeared in many adaptations of the story about Batman. How did the fate of Dent in the comics? Who played the supervillain in Hollywood paintings?

History of character creation

Harvey Dent was created by the authors Bob Kane and Bill Finger. Dent first appeared in 1942, in the 66th edition of Detective Comics.

Initially, Mr. Dent was supposed to wear the surname Kent. However, then the capital letter was changed, since Kent's name already belonged to Superman.

Dent's story began as a principled and intellectual prosecutor of Gotham City, who selflessly fought against crime. But everything in Dent's life changes when half his face is disfigured by acid. With half the face, Dent lost part of his mind.

After this incident, Harvey gets the nickname Duplicate and turns into a sophisticated villain - the leader of one of the criminal gangs of Gotham. All his intellect, leadership qualities, skills of hand-to-hand combat and shooting, the former prosecutor begins to use evil.

Harvey Dent, Gotham in comics

After the accident that happened to Dent, the former prosecutor begins to terrorize Gotham. Harvey Dent opposes Batman, Nightwing, Robin, Batgerl, Spoiler and Commissioner Gordon. But collaborates with villains Joker, Mysterious, Clayey and Poisonous Ivy.

When Dent finds his victim, he determines her fate with the help of a silver coin, disfigured, like his face. If the dollar falls on the deformed side, the victim dies immediately, if the whole, still dies, but later.

Two-faced has this pseudonym not only because of the duality of his face, but also because of the duality of his nature: in Harvey Dent, good and evil are constantly struggling.

Once a surgeon-villain named Hash did Dentu's operation to restore the second half of his face. After that, his sanity returned to Dent. He gave himself up without resistance to the commissioner Gordon, and then served his sentence in prison.

After liberation, Dent meets with the Dark Knight and he offers him to take his post as the defender of the city. After a lot of training, Harvey Dent took Batman's post, and Batman left for a while from the city. A year later, the Dark Knight returns and Harvey Dent again remains out of work.

Batman does not trust Harvey to the end, therefore, when someone starts killing petty crooks in the city, suspicion falls on the former Dvulik. Dent was so offended by suspicions that he again poured half of his face with acid and turned into a former villain.

When Batman dies, Harvey begins to compete for power in Gotham with Black Mask and Penguin. But in the end, he manages to catch Manhunter.

Dent's abilities

Prior to receiving the nickname of Two-faced, Dent was one of the best prosecutors Gotham had ever seen. He was called the White Knight of Gotham. Accordingly, Harvey had deep knowledge in the field of criminalistics and jurisprudence.

Dent succeeded in imprisoning many criminals. And during the exposure of one of them - Holiday, he gets injured and turns into Two-faced. Soon Two-faced becomes the boss of one of Gotham's criminal gangs due to his intellect, skills in the field of hand-to-hand combat and good possession of weapons.

Here and this time the main role went to the familiar Michael Keaton, and Val Kilmer. Also in the frame appeared Jim Carrey in the role of Mysterious, Chris O'Donnell as Robin, Drew Barrymore as Snowflake and Nicole Kidman as Dr. Meridian.

According to the plot, Harvey Dent considers the culprit of the disaster that happened to him Batman: allegedly he could save him from Salvatore Maroni, but did not do so. After that, Dent sets out to destroy the Dark Knight. For this he merges with Zagadochnik. But in the final picture Batman manages to outwit Dent, and the last one dies.

Batman does not have time to save both - only Dent. However, after the explosion, arranged by the Joker, the prosecutor loses half the face. After that, he begins to take revenge for the death of his bride to all those who did not manage to save her. Trying to save the family of Commissioner Gordon from revenge, Batman kills Dent. But in order not to break the faith of the inhabitants of Gotham into good, Batman takes on all the crimes of Two-faced, and Harvey is buried with all honors as a hero.
