Ground failures in the world. Ground failures in Yakutia

The whole world is agitated by news of unexplained collapse of the soil in different parts of the planet. Mankind is concerned that the earth literally began to go under its feet. Increasingly, reports are coming from different countries in which ground failures are detected. Of course, people are excited about this problem, but they try not to notice it and do not want to talk about it. However, the children's playgrounds, houses, roads, cars, garages, etc. can not remain unnoticed. In other words, the infrastructure that the person created was collapsing, and often people die. What threaten us with these natural disasters? And is there a human involvement here?

Many hold to the version that the Earth thus avenges humanity. After all, a lot of harm is done by people around the world, polluting and destroying what is created by nature.

Causes of ground failures

Experts studying the collapse of the soil, argue that the ground failures occur for the following reasons:

  • Because of the collapse of natural voids in the soil;
  • Due to the fact that groundwater erodes the soil;
  • Because of the erosion of the ground by the water in case of leakage from the pipes;
  • Due to the fact that abandoned underground structures are dilapidated and deformed with time;
  • Due to various construction works that are carried out near a possible failure;
  • Because of many resonance phenomena, when the ground is affected by vibration;
  • Because of the composition of the soil, if it includes rocks that dissolve in water.

Consequences of ground failures

The most important result of the collapse of the soil is the formation of a depression on the earth's surface. Often such a pit reaches considerable sizes and can cause emergency situations.

So, for example, ground failures near buildings can lead to the destruction of buildings. If the collapse of the soil occurs on the roadway, this can lead to car accidents, the road pavement to the ground along with the transport that has appeared on this site. The railway tracks with trains passing by them can suffer also during a failure of a ground. All this leads to colossal material damage and loss of life.

How to save our planet from death and survive by ourselves, if more often in different places there are failures of soil that a person is unable to predict and prevent?

Moscow goes underground

It's no secret that there are a lot of incidents in Russia related to subsidence of the soil. Take our capital, at least. Only in 2013, more than a dozen cracks of soil were recorded in different parts of Moscow. There were many cases in the metro, when due to such a cataclysm the movement of underground electric trains was violated, which led to a mass panic of passengers.

Consider the most well-known gaps in Moscow in 2014:

  • On Komsomolsky Avenue a pit was formed on a pedestrian crossing with a depth of 15 cm.
  • At the Nikoloyamskaya street in the center of the city a hollow appeared on the territory of the Temple.
  • The carriageway and sidewalks failed at the 2nd Yamskaya-Tverskaya near the restaurant "Khayyam".
  • In Tagansky district there were two landfalls in one place near the Klyuchevsky library.
  • On the Rublyovskoye highway , a 1-by-1.5-meter-diameter dike formed.
  • On the roadway at the sidewalk on Malaya Ordynka a pit with a depth of 10 cm appeared.
  • In the center of Moscow on Balchug Street there was a dip of soil 1 meter deep.

Soil collapse in the capital in 2015

New, 2015, without having had time to step in, has already replenished with the list of places in which there were failures of a ground.

So, in February of this year in the north-west of Moscow because of the weather conditions a 50-by-30-cm well was formed, into which a truck hit the wheel. And in March 2015, there was a subsidence of soil on the street of the 800th anniversary of Moscow, where asphalt fell through the garbage truck.

The last incident was recorded on March 10, 2015: near the main entrance to the Botanical Garden, pits with a depth of 20-30 cm were found.

Other cases of subsidence of soil in Russia

In our country, the most famous place where there was a failure of the soil - Berezniki Perm region. For 5 years, since 2006, when the potash mine was flooded, three huge funnels were formed, the diameter of which was from 70 to 400 meters. The largest of them appeared on the territory of the factory of the technical file. The second funnel was discovered at the railway station Berezniki, and the third - at the building of the Berezniki mine-building administration. Subsequently, two funnels joined in one.

In 2015, there were reports of the threat of a new failure in Berezniki in a residential area. Residents of eight houses were resettled from the danger zone. The area of the settled soil is 30 square meters, and the depth is 5 meters.

In Russia, such cases occur regularly. So, ground failures are known in Yakutia, Solikamsk (Perm region), Nizhny Novgorod region, Kaliningrad, Ufa and many other cities.

Similar incidents abroad

Other countries did not stay away from this unexplained cataclysm. Many formed funnels are still puzzles for scientists and professionals who have not yet found their explanation. And many experts were simply afraid to approach huge pits, fearing for their lives.

The most large-scale ground failures in the world:

  • Ukraine, 1997. In Dnepropetrovsk, a nine-story house, a kindergarten, three Khrushchevs and a school collapsed underground. In 2008, in Lugansk, the same fate suffered an apartment located on the first floor of a two-story building.
  • The most global failures are in China. So, in 2010, during six months, several huge soil subsidence appeared in different parts of the country.
  • No less extensive is the failure of soil in South Africa, which occurred in 1962. Then the whole apartment building and the factory went underground.
  • In Florida in 2013, a young man fell to the bottom of a hole that formed in the middle of the room of his house.
  • In Guatemala, in 2010, a funnel with a depth of more than 100 meters was formed, which killed fifteen people, absorbing a three-story building.

USA, Mexico, India, Thailand, China, Ukraine, Russia - this is not the entire list of countries that suffered a natural anomaly. We can only hope that all cataclysms will soon find their interpretation, and scientists will be able to learn how to prevent their further appearance. In the meantime, we live in fear for ourselves and our children, who will have to eliminate the consequences of disasters that occur through our fault.
