Behind the gate stretches the world-famous street Unter Den Linden, which means "under the lindens." In the heart of the city is Alexanderplatz, which was named after Tsar Alexander I (his arrival in Berlin in 1805). On the square itself, fairs and celebrations are held regularly, which is why it is always filled with people and shops with souvenirs.
