General Nikitin is the ex-chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Ivanovo region. In 2014, he was detained on charges of abuse of office. According to the investigation, based on operational data of the FSB, he was involved in fraud in the construction of a new building of the regional police. His activities led to overexpense of more than 80 million rubles.

Biography of the General

General Nikitin is from Novosibirsk. At the same time he graduated from the Law Faculty of the State University in Tomsk. After that he returned to his native region.

His career began in the district executive committee in the capacity of an employee, but even then decided for himself that at the first opportunity to work for the police. He bluntly stated that all the crimes he committed, his leader was not only informed, but personally gave instructions to Schenkov how to steal state funds.

As a result, Nikitin lost his post less than two years after his appointment. Soon he was arrested and sent to Moscow.

The investigation was not moving quickly. It was necessary to collect and process a large documentary base. The investigation of the case lasted almost two years. All this time, Nikitin in every possible way denied any of his involvement in theft and embezzlement.

One of his main arguments was that Sheenkov confused his wishes with direct orders.

Moreover, Nikitin insisted that all work was carried out in strict accordance with the law and approved project documentation. The excesses that the controlling bodies discovered in the administration were just a concern for the comfort of the personnel. And the expensive furniture in Nikitin's office was in fact a cheap forgery.

In all his troubles, Nikitin blamed his colleagues. According to his version, the reason for the initiation of a criminal case against him was his participation in the fate of General Denis Sugrobov. Sugrobov was also charged with numerous crimes, but Nikitin doubted his guilt, which he repeatedly stated openly, becoming a "black sheep" among other generals.

Therefore, Nikitin believed that in this way he decided to take revenge by instituting a criminal case against him, which, in fact, was based on the testimony of a single witness.

Court

At the same time it is worth noting the fact that at the trial the criminal case gradually began to crumble. Thus, about 90 of the incriminated 220 million rubles remained. The state prosecutor made no attempt to accuse Nikitin of getting "kickbacks" money, insisting only on abuse of his official position, which led to violation of the terms of the state contract.

The prosecution asked for ten years for Nikitin. However, the court ruled to sentence the general to three years in a general-regime colony. After that, for another year he will be prohibited from holding positions in the civil service. He gave his testimony against his chief and even got off with a suspended sentence. The court took into account his remorse and cooperation with the investigation.
