It is small, can grow up to thirty centimeters in length, and its distinctive feature is the long and thin lower fins, which it firmly fixes in the muddy bottom in order to stand against the current and wait until the food itself swims into the mouth. These fins are three pieces, and they serve not only for support, but also for swimming. On top of this fish there are fins-rays, with which it seizes the catch catching from above and, making sure of its suitability as food, directs directly into the mouth.

The appearance of this fish looks like a foreign creature, which by some miracle turned out to be in the depths of the seas. This is really an interesting creature.

Swordfish

This fish, reminiscent of a large worm, can be found in warm tropical seas. It is quite large, it can grow from one to almost two and a half meters in length. It is long and completely devoid of caudal fin, in its place is a filiform appendage. The constitution resembles a saber, which is why the fish is so called. Dorsal fin wide and long, growing from head to that very caudal appendage. Inhabits the hairy tail (the second name of the species) off the coast, and at night is on the surface of the water. It feeds on crustaceans, small fishes. For a person, this fish is a delicious product.

Idiacant - glowing monster

The fish of the oceans in their diversity have not only beautiful beings, but also truly monstrous. This is exactly the idiacant. This creature resembles a worm with a huge mouth, in which there are long and sharp teeth. It is found in the temperate waters of the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans, lives at a depth of five hundred to two thousand meters.

The females are painted brown and black, grow to fifty centimeters. Males are much smaller (only seven centimeters), and their color is light brown. These fish do not have scales. It is interesting that not only the bodies of these fishes shine, but also the teeth. From the lower jaw hangs a glowing long process, which serves as a bait for fish, lost in dark deep waters.

In the daytime these fish are at a depth, and at night they rise to the surface to have supper. Especially gluttonous females. They can swallow quite a large prey, and their whole body is adapted to such a diet: jaws open like a snake, thanks to an uncoasted first vertebra, the stomach can stretch to an incredible size. All organs when ingesting large food are removed, so as not to be exposed to possible damage.

Deepwater digger

This is another representative of deep-sea luminous creatures, is the most terrible fish in the world. The angler lives at depths from one and a half to three thousand meters, where there is absolutely no sunlight. Their color varies from dark brown to black, in females a long process with a luminous tip that serves as a bait for the prey leaves from the head, hence the name of the individual. These fishes shine thanks to the bacteria filling their covers.

The shape of the body of this monster is spherical, on the large head there are huge jaws with sharp razor-sharp teeth. Female can grow up to a meter, and males do not exceed four centimeters in length. It is females that are predatory creatures.

The anglers are very greedy and often die of their gluttony. They can swallow food, which is several times their size, and because of the inability to spit it out (denture), they simply die.

Most males are parasites. They attach themselves to the bodies of females with their teeth, and then fuse with them with the intestines, receiving nutrients from her blood.
