Espadrilles women - a peep of fashion or a relic of the past?

Fashion - the lady is very changeable, but we can say for sure that her spirits are moving in a spiral, and what has been forgotten for many centuries, again returns to the podium. The living proof of this is Espadrilles. The name is derived from "esparte", which means the grass from which the ropes are made. The word is complex, but modern women of fashion know that espadrilles are women's sandals, the sole of which is made of natural material. At present, jute is most often used as a basis.
The history of this modern fashion embodiment is rooted in Catalonia, whose inhabitants already flaunted in such sandals in the 13th century. At first glance, Espadrilles are not very strong and durable women, but it is only necessary to get to know them better, as soon as some facts are revealed that will easily dispel all doubts. It is known that such shoes were originally part of the military ammunition. And all because in the hot weather they were at the right time, and they spent a minimum of effort and money on their production.
By the 15th century, the "soldier's fashion" had reached Portugal, where Espadrilles were very popular among peasants, after three centuries, sandals appeared on the territory of France, where they first made a fabric upper. Most often it was cotton or flax. As you know, the French are fashion legislators recognized all over the world, so it is not surprising that they supplemented them with a reliable sole and original ornaments.

However, despite all the "travel", the most popular they stayed at home, in Spain. It was there that in the late 18th century Rafael Castañier, the founder of a whole dynasty of shoemakers, began to produce this shoe. Espadrilles and to this day remain the "chip" of this brand.

In the last century for these sandals came the next dawn. It happened in the 60's, when the factory "Castaner" was on the verge of collapse. It was then that at one of the exhibitions the owner of the shoe house Isabela Kastanier met with the devotee of experiments Yves Saint Laurent. He was inspired by the simplicity and comfort that this Spanish shoes combined. Therefore, without thinking for a long time, he suggested starting to produce it on high heels, which caused a real sensation and pulled the factory out of the debt hole.

Modern espadrilles are very different from the shoes of the Spanish military and peasants. Riot of colors, long-lasting rubberized outsole and a variety of materials - so you can characterize this shoe. On the one hand, it seems strange that the shoes of the poor became so popular that even Hollywood stars wear it, but on the other hand, it is natural, comfortable and perfectly sits on its leg. Espadrilles are light and therefore perfectly suitable for those who have to move a lot, and the variety of colors makes it easy to pick out their outfit.

It is known that such shoes were preferred by Salvador Dali and John Kennedy. The royal family also does not neglect simplicity and comfort, Kate Middleton often appears in public in espadrilles. In this millennium, such shoes were appreciated. It is popular with men, although, of course, espadrilles are more common. The photo does not convey all their beauty. Since this summer shoes, wear it is recommended with shorts, light dresses and sarafans. The most successful option - denim capri. Men can afford to wear them even with costumes (of course, not with everyone).
In the end, I want to warn you. Espadrilles are feminine, as well as masculine, worn solely on bare feet!
