Endometriosis of the uterus - causes, signs and treatment

Endometriosis of the uterus is a pathological condition in which there is a proliferation of uterine tissues (endometrium) to nearby organs. In general, the disease is detected in 10% of women from 25 to 44 years.

This process is divided into two types. The first and most common is the genital, in which the ovaries and fallopian tubes are captured . And the second one is extragenital endometriosis, which manifests itself when certain organs of the abdominal cavity, lung tissue, postoperative scars and bladder are involved.

Causes

To date, there is no clear-cut opinion as to the cause of the development of endemetriosis. Many specialists stop at the implantation theory, which is based on the action of retrograde menstrual therapies. The fact is that menstrual blood, in which there are particles of the endometrium, usually flows into the abdominal cavity and the tubes, where they take root. And just like uterine tissue, the newly formed endometrium reacts to any hormonal changes in the body. But at the same time, all its surpluses do not go outside, but form an inflammatory process with hemorrhage. It is worth noting that menstruation of this type occurs in women who have a certain structure of the genital organs.

There is also another theory of the onset of the disease. If you believe her, endometriosis of the uterus is manifested in the case when the immune system of a woman is weakened. As a result, when the endometrium is attached to the wrong place, macrophages (immune cells) are not capable of destroying it. As a consequence, endometriosis is manifested, the photo of which you can see below.

But do not overlook the so-called genetic predisposition. After all, families are very common, where several generations of women suffer from this disease. In this case, endometriosis of the uterus indicates the presence of genetic disorders, which can not be identified yet.

Symptoms

  • Pain during menstruation, arising in the abdominal cavity.
  • Dizziness, nausea and weakness.
  • Violation of the cycle of menstruation.
  • Pain that occurs during defecation or sexual contact.
  • Spotting during the whole cycle.
  • Uterine bleeding.
  • Infertility.

But it must be taken into account that endometriosis of the uterus can proceed without manifestation of any symptoms. In addition, his diagnosis is complicated by the fact that most diseases of the pelvic organs have similar signs. Therefore, if there are any abnormalities indicating a possible occurrence of endometriosis, you should consult a gynecologist and go through all the necessary procedures that will help establish an accurate diagnosis.

Treatment

At the initial stage of treatment and provided that there is one focus of inflammation, hormone therapy is given in the form of androgen derivatives or a combination of several oral contraceptives.

If unsuccessful attempts at conservative treatment or if several foci occur, doctors resort to prompt intervention. Most often this is a laparoscopic operation, during which the inflammation is cauterized by a laser.
