Education in Poland: preschool, school, secondary, medical, postgraduate

In the entire post-Soviet space, Poland stands out thanks to modern methods and methods of teaching. Education in Poland, citizens are mandatory, and they can choose the system most suitable for them or their children. In our article, we will try to reveal in the most detailed way all the paths that pupils pass from kindergarten to getting a future profession.

Pre-school education in Poland

Babies can begin attending a kindergarten at the age of three. The state took as a basis the system adopted in most European countries: up to six years parents can take children to a pre-school or sit with them at home, but from six to seven years the child must attend a kindergarten in order to prepare for school. In the last year, children are taught to count, read, prepare their hand for writing, and are engaged in music and dancing. Visiting at this age kindergarten is not only the Poles, but also the children of refugees who are under the protection of the state. Education in Poland preschoolers can in the following institutions:

  • In the municipal kindergarten. It is interesting that free babies can stay here up to five hours a day, and all subsequent time and meals are paid separately.
  • In the public kindergarten. As a rule, they accept children with disabilities, as well as those who are raised without parents.
  • In a private kindergarten. Usually there are small groups functioning here, but several teachers are involved with the children. However, not all parents can afford to take their children to such an institution, since the fee for staying in it is very high.

Primary School

Secondary education in Poland is compulsory, and the right to it is enshrined in the country's constitution. Not only children of citizens of the country should study at school, but also children of foreigners. The education system in Poland has a number of features:

  • At the age of seven, the children go to the first class and before the third they are immersed in the conditions of integrated education. This means that the classes are not divided into separate subjects (with the exception of physical education and music). All lessons, with the exception of the above, are maintained by one teacher. At the request of parents, children can attend classes on ethics and study religion.
  • The next stage is study from the fourth to the sixth grade. During this period, the subject teachers are engaged with the children, and at the end of the sixth grade, children pass the test tests. I must say that the results of this exam do not affect the final grades or admission to the gymnasium. However, they are taken into account if the child is transferred to another school, especially if she has higher requirements.

Gymnasium

From 13 to 16 years, Polish students attend a gymnasium in which they study humanities, two foreign languages, mathematical subjects and social studies. At the end of this period, young men and girls take an exam, following which they are enrolled in the next school. Secondary education in Poland can be continued either in the lyceum (this will take three years of study) or in a vocational school. After graduation, young people receive a certificate of maturity and choose a further road. So, they can enter the university, post-school school, technical school or go to work.

Higher education in Poland

Like many universities in Europe, Polish universities in the overwhelming majority accept students without exams. However, some schools reserve the right to introduce additional tests - tests on certain subjects or interviews. The most prestigious universities set the framework for the admission of foreign students. You can also get education in Poland in one of the private universities, and the quality of education in these educational institutions is not inferior to the state one. Another additional advantage of paid training is the opportunity to pass an internship at the enterprise according to its profile. The corresponding mark in the diploma gives the graduate a competitive advantage over other young specialists.

Higher education in Poland for foreigners is always paid, but students can compensate for expenses due to work-work. In large cities, there are many jobs with part-time (part-time) and quite decent wages. It should be noted that for Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians there is an opportunity to work without official permission in the summer months. For the rest of the time they are required to fill out the Employment Declaration and go through official registration at the local employment center. At the senior courses, education in Poland can be combined with an internship at a profile enterprise. Such work, as a rule, is adequately paid for and gives the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills.

Training after receiving a diploma

Many young specialists who have completed their studies in Russia are eager to continue their studies abroad. Postgraduate education in Poland is an excellent opportunity for graduates with a bachelor's, specialist or master's degree to improve their knowledge in their field or to get an education in a new industry for themselves. If desired, the student can choose the correspondence form of study for a period of one year. There are the following types of postgraduate education:

  • Without an academic degree - MBA (Business Administration) or advanced training.
  • With the assignment of the academic degree - the receipt of the title of master or doctor of science.

Medical Faculties

More and more foreign students come to the country to enter the medical faculty. This fact can be explained by the fact that the quality of education is at a sufficiently high level, and its cost is much lower than in other European countries. Medical education in Poland can receive:

  • A citizen who has a Pole Card - such an entrant enters the university on the same terms as any citizen of the country. Further, he has the same benefits and the opportunity to receive a scholarship. Examinations take place in Polish, and the entrant must show good knowledge in two selected subjects from the natural sciences. For example, it could be biology and chemistry. High grades allow students to easily transfer from one educational institution to another, if necessary.
  • The foreigner on the scholarship program of the government - for this it is necessary to pass examinations in the Polish consulate. Those who can successfully pass the test will be able to study in the country for free and get the status of a foreign student. Usually applicants are enrolled in the zero or first year of the medical faculty.
  • Anyone who wants on a paid basis is the simplest way, since in this case it is not necessary to take exams. However, applicants must provide a diploma with high marks and a good knowledge of the Polish language. Also, foreign students have the opportunity to choose the program in English. Need I say that this language the applicant should know as well as possible.

Universities of Warsaw

Education in the capital's university has always been prestigious. If you decide to get an education in Poland, then pay attention to the following educational institutions:

  • Warsaw University - offers students to choose one of twenty faculties, and foreigners - one of the many programs in English. Among the graduates of this university are five Nobel Prize laureates. This fact characterizes the offered training from the best side.
  • Polytechnic University of Warsaw - is considered one of the best not only in their country, but also in the world. The number of students studying here reaches 37 thousand a year, many of them combine study with research activities.
  • The University of Lazar is a private university, graduates of which with almost 100% guarantee find decent work upon its completion.

Universities of Krakow

In one of the most beautiful cities in the country there are state-run private educational institutions. We will tell about some of them:

  • The Economic University of Krakow is the largest in Poland in its field. It is chosen not only by citizens of the country, but also by students of more than 40 countries of the world. The fact is that the university gives the opportunity to obtain a double diploma with such countries as France, Germany, Spain and some others.
  • The Academy of Music in Krakow is quite popular among people of creative professions. Has its own recording studio.
  • The Academy of Social Sciences in Krakow is a private educational institution that offers students a choice of 22 specialties. The cost of training here is low, there is an opportunity to get a parallel education in the US (thanks to cooperation with the American University of Clark University).

Conclusion

As you can see, the educational system in Poland is quite progressive and accessible. That is why the training in this country is chosen not only by citizens of the country, but also by foreigners. Low fees for study, the opportunity to earn extra money and get a job after the diploma, a simple enrollment system are just a few factors that attract students from many countries around the world.
