The students were due to return on 12 February. The beginning of the organization of search works was laid on February 19. Only six days later, a tent of children was found on the slope of the Holat Chakhl mountain - an empty and strangely cut with a knife in several places. The bodies of all the guys were found until May, when the snow fell completely. At different distances from the tent, with various implicit signs of the death that happened - some have severe injuries to the skull or chest, others simply froze in the snow without any obvious deadly damage. Moreover, the investigation found out that all students were leaving their tent in what they were, without even spending time to get dressed. Actually, the question of what compelled the guys to leave their tent, what they left, and is central to this whole story. The investigation opened in the spring of 1959 first had local Mansi tribes as suspects, but as a result, investigator Lev Ivanov never made any intelligible conclusions about the Diatlov Pass. What happened in fact, the investigation was unable to determine. And in his conclusion until today, a surprising phrase is indicated that the cause of death was an unknown and irresistible elemental force.
