Every legal student dreams that someday his business card will be decorated with magic words for him "Doctor of Jurisprudence". There is no such post-graduate student-economist who mentally did not disclose a beautiful diploma with an elegant inscription "Doctor of Economic Sciences". In the long list of posts, prizes and awards of a venerable academician one of the first with pride will be indicated a doctoral degree. The doctoral degree has a wide world circulation, it is adopted in most states as evidence of undoubted scientific merit. The only difference is that in some countries doctors are already after defending only one dissertation, skipping the candidate stage. Thus, the weight of the "classical", Soviet, and now Russian title "doctor of science" is an order of magnitude higher than, say, a British analogue. There is also such a concept as the title of "honorary doctor" - this is the title, which many educational institutions celebrate public figures (politicians, representatives of culture and others), regardless of whether the awarded academic degree has an academic degree or not. In any case, the title of doctor gives considerable privileges and guarantees its owner honor and respect, and already this alone is, in principle, enough to compete for it!
