Diagram of a hexagon crochet for knitting boots or slippers

Knitting of home shoes is an old kind tradition of all knitters. Many continue to support it, creating cozy and warm slippers, boots, slates and even boots for themselves and their families each year.

There are several popular ways of making such shoes, which have almost become a classic of the genre, but restless designers and craftsmen continue to delight knitters with new developments. One of them - slippers from hexagons crochet. The scheme for creating motives and assembling them is proposed in this article. Examples of color yarn distribution and model modification are also given.

Materials for knitting slippers

In addition to the obvious advantages (the originality of finished products, cost savings, the realization of creative potential), the manufacture of shoes for the house is also useful in that it makes it possible to utilize the remains of multi-colored and mismatched yarn. As a rule, most masters sooner or later find out that they have accumulated a huge number of skeins, glomeruli and coils. Usually this yarn has not only different colors, but also composition, and even thickness. The hexagon pattern of the crochet is great for linking all these strings.

The color can be changed in almost every row or come up with another system. If there are many small colored glomeruli and one unnecessary skein, then the middle of the hexagons are variegated, and the last two rows of each motif and the strapping of the slippers are the main color. By the way, in the case when it is not possible to clearly distribute the remainders of the yarn for knitting the required number of identical fragments, it is possible to produce very different hexagons. The main thing is that the colors are combined, and the strapping is made with the thread of the darkest color.

Adherents of the classical style and calm shades will love the monotonous boots with a hook of hexagons (the motif scheme can be practically any).

What to use for making soles

As a basis for room shoes, various types of dense fabrics are excellent. However, the most wear-resistant remains natural and artificial leather. These materials are elastic, so the sole will be comfortable, and not "wooden". As a rule, leather elements are not rubbed for several years, however, it will be necessary to take care that the upper part of the product is sewn to the bottom. On the inside of the slippers, it is necessary to attach or glue an interlayer of some natural and warm fabric: fleece, flannel or lining with batting.

Why Felt

As an alternative, often used felt insoles, they also serve for a long time and at the same time are much cheaper than leather insoles. Among their advantages are the following:

  • They are easy to find and buy.
  • Felt is easy to pierce with any needle, so it's easier to work with.
  • It does not require placing the liner from inside the product, as it is warm enough by itself.

If the craftsman has used rags of tarpaulins or furniture fabrics, she can easily use them. Some publications suggest schemes for knitting soles out of yarn. However, it should be borne in mind that the life of such slippers will be short-lived: they will erupt in just a few weeks.

Simple hexagons crocheted: charts and description

Consider the principle of manufacturing a dense hexagonal motif. You need to start with a chain of 3-4 air loops (VP), like any circular knitting. It is more convenient for some skilled workers to make a loop from a thread as an initial stage. In fact, there is not much difference in how the middle will look, the main thing is that it should be neat.

1st row: 3VP (this is the beginning of each row), 1 column with a cue (CCN), * 1 VP, 2 CER * (repeat 5 times), 1 VP.

2nd row: 3 VPs, 1 SSN, 1 SSN under the arch from the previous series VP, * 1 VP, 1 SSN in the arch, 2 SSNs, 1 SSN in the arch * (repeat 4 times), 1 VP, 1 SSN in the arch .

This is the whole description of the knitting of the hexagon, since further it is only necessary to continue the expansion of the motif. An attentive knitter will notice that the formation of new SSN occurs when one SSN, 1 VP and 1 other CLN are tied in one arch (out of 1 VP).

In the same places, the angles of the motif are formed. When changing colors, the strips will repeat the contour of the shape. The pattern of the hexagon crochet may be laced.

Here, a slightly different principle of expanding the fabric is used: first, a circular element is knit, and in the last row, six corners are formed.

Crochet hexagon: knitting and combining motifs

The following figure shows the openwork hexagons, the shape of which is formed from the second row.

This is due to the fact that at six points between the "bush" (the main element of the motif associated with the CCH) is not one, but three air loops. In the next row, not one, but two "bushes" are tied into this arch. The described algorithm is repeated until the fragment reaches the desired size. This hexagonal crochet scheme is best suited for working with colored threads.

To join individual elements into a single web, you can use several methods:

  • Sew with needle.
  • To knit one row of RLS, grasping the edges of two parts (the seam will be voluminous and rigid).
  • Bind an additional row from the VI and RLS, picking up the loops of two hexagons.

The first two methods are fairly simple, but the third will be more understandable after learning the instructions. Begin with 1 RLS, which is knit in the last row of one of the elements (in the corner), then, without tearing off the thread, go to the corner of the second part and also perform RLS. After 3 VP, a hook is put under the VP of one and the second part and 1 SCN is wound. Then there are also 3 VPs, the algorithm is repeated.

The resulting seam is flat, completely loose and flat. Often it is performed with a thread of the background color, so a peculiar frame is formed between the motives.

How many hexagons are required for slippers and boots

The photo shows that the usual slippers consist of three motives: one serves as a toe of the product, and the other two form a heel.

To collect short boots, more details will be required. In addition to the main three hexagons, it will be necessary to link two more for the shaft. If desired, you can raise the boots to any height: each level will consist of two new parts.

Before you start to knit a hexagon crochet (the patterns may be different), it is worth considering the thickness of the yarn. If it is small, the number of motives will grow.
