Cyril - Slavic enlightener originally from Byzantium

The famous Slavic enlightener, the author of the church alphabet in the Old Slavonic language, the founder of the literary speech, the Monk Kirill (the worldly name Constantine) was born in Macedonia. Together with his brother Mefody, he made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Slavic language. It is a person who had to become canonized after his death. Thanks to her, we have such an amazing, melodic and poetic speech, our language is incomparable in harmony with any other language in the world.

Vision and extraordinary mind

The Slavic enlightener comes from Byzantium. Constantine (Cyril) was born in 827 in modern Thessaloniki, and before the city of Solun. His father was a prominent man who held a high position in Soluni as an assistant military commander.

There are written references to the fact that young Constantine once had a vision. Sophia appeared to him with a luminous face. Parents of the guy looked at the visionary woman of the wise Sophia. They interpreted this event as a momentous event and were very pleased with him.

Creation of the alphabet

The new alphabet consisted of 43 letters. Thanks to them it was possible to write down such words as, for example, boron, latitude, noise and others. These terms could not be represented by Greek letters, since in this language there are no letters for the transmission of the following sounds: s, w, w, c, y, b, h, w. For their depiction in the Slavic language, there were letters.

Fight and death

Slavic peoples in every way tried to prohibit having their own writing. But Cyril, a Slavic enlightener originally from Byzantium, waged an irreconcilable fight against this injustice. He courageously performed divine services in the Church Slavonic language. At that time, the West was dominated by the doctrine that the Latin peoples are the chosen god, and the Slavic nationality is barbarism. Cyril rejected all this.

The beginning of 869 brought Cyril (a Slavic educator from Byzantium) a terrible disease, from which he died on February 14 of the same year. The wise man did not become at the age of 42 years.
