Those who want as much as possible to buy a non-local production car are often tempted by prices on specialized foreign websites. In order to really imagine what the final cost of the imported car will cost, we will understand what one of its components consists of-the amount of the duty on the import of foreign cars.

When crossing a Russian border by a foreign car intended for personal use on the territory of the country, the state collects the established payments - customs duties on the import of foreign cars. Precisely determining the amount of duty in advance - the task is not easy, since different calculation systems are used for this.

First of all, it matters who imports the car into Russia: a legal entity or a physical one. The next factor is the age of the machine, and for the new - and its cost, as well as the volume and type of its engine.

Customs duties on import of foreign cars, individuals

For the calculation, you will need the following data: the year the vending vehicle left the conveyor and the working volume / type of the engine. If the desired vehicle is less than three years old, the calculation of the import duty on the car is carried out based on its value. This value you specify in the accompanying documents submitted to the customs authority, which, in turn, compares it with the data available to it. As a basis, it is assumed that, not surprisingly, the largest of these figures. Customs duties on import of foreign cars can make up to 54 percent of this amount, but a minimum restriction is established, from 3.5 to 20 euros for each "cube" of the engine. The more expensive the car, the more will be the rate. For example, if the cost when converting to Russian rubles is 500 thousand, with an engine capacity of just over 1.5 liters, you will pay a fee of 270 thousand rubles.

The most popular among imported foreign cars are usually aged from 3 to 5 years, because it is in this segment that it is most feasible to choose a car in good technical condition at an acceptable cost. In this case, import duties depend solely on engine capacity and range from 1.6 to 3.5 euros. Then for a three-year car with the same engine, you will pay 2.5 euros for each cm3, that is, approximately 160,000 rubles.

The vehicle, issued more than 5 years ago, is subject to a higher duty, which is related to the protection of products produced domestically, which used foreign cars make significant competition, as well as tougher environmental regulations and the need for subsequent recycling of new cars. Customs duties on import of foreign cars of this category range from 3.2 to 5.7 euros per cubic centimeter of their engine and, accordingly, make their customs clearance an unprofitable measure.

To analyze the picture as a whole, you can refer to the regulatory documents. They will also help to perform independent calculations. But in order to calculate in advance how much you will have to pay for the import of a particular car, it is better to resort to a customs calculator that is easy to find on the Internet.

Legal entities

How to calculate the customs duty for a legal entity? It will be 30% of the cost of the new car and 35% for the car of the next "age category". As for individuals, there are restrictions on the minimum amount of fees for each "cube", but this figure is slightly lower. For machines whose age has exceeded 5 years, this coefficient, again, will be higher. In addition, the total amount of the fee for a legal entity is also formed from the value of VAT on the machine.

As already mentioned, it is possible to calculate the amount of duty more accurately for both a physical person and a legal entity, using a customs calculator that will not take a minute. You need to enter only the age of the machine, the volume and type of the engine and its cost.
