"Clever daughter of a peasant": who wrote it? "Clever daughter of a peasant," a fairy tale

A fairy tale is a magical lullaby that was sung to every child before going to bed. And the most outstanding authors - masters in this field - were the Brothers Grimm. They gave rise to wonderful stories about Cinderella, King Drozdoboroda and Sleeping Beauty. Also the Brothers Grimm - those who wrote "Smart Peasant daughter", "Boy with a finger", "Little Red Riding Hood" and so on.

Life storytellers

Today it is difficult to meet a person who would not be familiar with the work of these two linguists, folklorists and researchers of German literature. But it is the stories that Jacob and Wilhelm have gathered that have become a world heritage. Their tales of Snow White, Cinderella and the Bremen musicians were screened many times. Also, the Grimm brothers are those who wrote "The Clever Daughter of the Peasants" - a fairy tale that strikes with its wisdom and simplicity.

The Brothers Grimm were born on January 4 in 1786 in the city of Hanau. For a very long time they lived in the town of Igra. In very narrow circles of scholars, the brothers are known as researchers of German folk culture and the creators of the first German dictionary. So far, their work is valuable for science. At first they were going to study for lawyers, but later they were carried away by folk wisdom. So, they traveled the country and carefully collected all the stories, legends and myths. Together with Karl Lachmann and George Benecke, the brothers are considered the founders of German philology and German studies. It is very important that the main purpose of their work was to preserve the original story exactly as the people knew it.

Such is the fairy tale "A Clever Daughter of a Peasant". The Brothers Grimm noted that the idea of this work, like many others, is found among different peoples of the world.

The beginning of an extraordinary story

It is not known exactly who and in what year told the writers about the wise and poor girl. But for the first time the fiction appeared in the second volume, "The Tales of the Brothers Grimm", published in 1815.

The main actors are the king, the peasant and his wise daughter. The peasant was poor, and all he had was a small house. His only daughter started a conversation with his father that they should ask for land from the king. The latter learned about their poverty and allocated a share.

From such a gift the legend "Clever daughter of a peasant" began. The author, or rather, the authors, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, further say that a small family worked hard on the ground. Once they plowed and found a golden mortar. The man decided to give it to the king as a token of gratitude for the allotment. But her daughter did not like this idea. She said the king would accuse them of misappropriating the pesta. And it happened.

Tasks and Response

The king did not believe the peasant and put him in jail. Poor father always regretted that he did not listen to an intelligent daughter. The king recognized this and summoned the peasant to himself. He told everything, as it was. To make sure that the girl is really so clever, the grandee gave her complex tasks. It is in this scene that the whole cunning of the heroine, which the author of the fairy tale "Smart Peasant Girl" put into her, first appears. The girl did not come and did not come, not naked or dressed. The girl did it right, and the king, who had earlier promised to take her as his wife, if she could cope with the task, married her.

They lived happily, while the young queen did not cheat. I could not stay away from someone else's trouble, the main heroine of the fairy tale "Smart Peasant Girl". The Brothers Grimm gave her a new assignment.

The "handwriting" of the queen

Once a peasant turned to the queen, who heard of her wisdom. He told how unfair the king had dealt with him. Her husband unfairly resolved a dispute between people on the street. The girl gave good advice to the offended person, however, on the condition that he should not at all tell who instructed him.

The dispute was that the colt, which belonged to an honest peasant, the king gave to another person only because he was closer to him. Thus, it turned out that the foal was born from oxen.

The one who wrote "The Clever Daughter of the Peasants", practically repeated the trial, which at one time was perfected by the wise Solomon. But in the tale events took another turn. So, on the advice of the girl, the poor man spread the nets on the road and pretended to fish. When the king asked how it was possible to fish on land, the man said: "It's as easy as giving a foal from oxen."

Eternal wisdom

The king immediately realized that his wise wife intervened. He tortured the peasant until he confessed. Then the ruler told his beloved that he could no longer trust her and did not want to see her next to him. It could be the final. But the one who wrote "Smart Peasant daughter" decided to finish the tale happily.

The cunning woman seemed to submit to his will and asked to spend the last night in the castle. The king agreed, and on parting allowed her to take whatever she wanted. She poured a sleeping potion into his drink and, when the spouse fell asleep, wrapped it in sheets and took it out of the palace. The king awoke in her poor hut. The fairy tale "The Clever Daughter of a Peasant" ended with the girl explaining that she had taken away from the castle what was dearest to her. And the nicest is her own husband.

"Sister" of a sensible girl

Often there is a story about a wise girl in fairy tales of other nations of the world. There is such a story in the Slavic lands. The motive in it is the same. Poor parents have a wise daughter who helps them out of trouble and defeats an arrogant ruler who likes to have fun with puzzles.

Repeatedly echoes the Slavic plot with the tale of the Brothers Grimm "Clever daughter of a peasant." Cunning heroine manifests during the task, which set the master before her. Like her German "sister", she does not go, and does not go, and not naked, and not dressed. For the correct answer the rich man, as promised earlier, took the girl to wife.

For example, the Slavic woman decides the same dispute between the peasants, but in a different way. The girl gives the foal to whom he will go, that is, for the oxen or for the horses. For such impudence the pan drove her out of the house, but allowed me to take anything with me. She, like her distant relative, gave the man a sleeping pill and took her with her. In the Slavic version there are other details of the dispute between the gentleman and the beggar.

Mention of an intelligent beauty is not only among the Slavs. Such a character is present in the tales of Asia.
