Chrysocolla (stone): description, properties. Chrysocolla and the sign of the zodiac

For our ancestors, the fact that everything in the world is full of vital energy was unquestionable. Certain knowledge allows you to direct this force to the needs of man. Herbs, soil and water were used to promote health and fight diseases. The special place in the Znakhari teachings was occupied by stones - precious and semiprecious stones. Modern lithotherapy is rooted in those distant times. Beliefs in the power of stones have survived today, but today we know much more about their origin, structure and properties, and often new information runs counter to the knowledge of ancestors.

In this article, in the center of our attention, chrysocolla is a stone that, in the opinion of lithotherapists, has the ability to influence the health and well-being of a person. Let's look at it from the point of view of science and alternative medicine.

Chrysocolla - a stone with a history

The name of the stone is of Greek origin. "Chrysa" means "gold", and "call" means glue. According to some sources, in olden times, chrysocolla was used to solder gold. The name of the mineral is found in the works of Theophrastus, dating back to the IV century BC.

Chrysocolla wore other names. One of them is Eilat, or Elat stone. So the mineral is called because in ancient times there was its rich deposit in the Gulf of Elat on the coast of the Red Sea near the city of the same name. Immediately, according to biblical legends, the legendary copies of King Solomon were placed. However, such a name is today not designated as a chrysocolla as such, but its inclusion in the form of veins in sandstone or a connection with turquoise.

Born with water and copper

It is difficult to argue with the fact that the chrysocolla is a stone, the properties of which are determined primarily by the composition. The mineral is an aqueous copper silicate. Opaque, but often reminiscent of glass, the stone is fragile. Chrysocolla has a gloss, the characteristics of which vary depending on its origin.

Mineral is not uncommon in opal masses. Here it is formed in the form of crusts with a waxy or bubbly surface, but crystals of chrysocolla (as in rock crystal) do not exist.

Colour

The characteristic color of the mineral is from blue and green to black. First of all, the color is determined by the presence of copper in the composition. There are stones bluish-green and light blue. The presence of manganese in the composition gives a brown tint. When combined with minerals of aluminum and iron, darker colors - green or black - are obtained. The most "dark" (black) varieties of stone are called "lampad". The green chrysocolla often resembles malachite. To distinguish one mineral from another is possible by interaction with hydrochloric acid. Often confused with chrysocolla and turquoise.

Varieties

Depending on the peculiarities of the place of formation, the composition of the chrysocolla changes: compounds with other minerals arise, the amount of water decreases, and so on. These transformations affect the color and other properties of the mineral. According to the characteristic features, several varieties of stone are distinguished:

  • Chrysocolla quartz - is formed when the chrysocolla and quartz are intergrown;

  • Already called Eilat stone - often represents a chrysocolla, fused with turquoise or malachite;

  • Azur-chalcedony is a quartz with small inclusions of a chrysocolla;

  • Azure copper - a mixture of chrysocolla with lapis lazuli.

Place of Birth

As you might guess, chrysocolla is a stone that is formed in zones where there is copper ore, more precisely, where it is oxidized. It can also be found in old excavations, in which solutions lead to the appearance of a mineral, flowing down the walls.

Basically, chrysocolla is found in areas with a hot and dry climate. There are deposits of stone in Russia, the USA, Kazakhstan, Chile, Zaire and other countries. In our country, bluish-green and light-blue varieties of the mineral are mined in large quantities in the Turinsky mines in the Urals. Another large deposit is located in Transbaikalia.

Application

Along with the emerald, ruby, sapphire and pearls in the jewelry business, the chrysocolla is also used. The value of a stone for the industry is determined by its external characteristics. Especially interesting is the chrysocolla at the break. A beautiful structure of it is revealed only in the skillful hands of the master - the stone requires an attentive attitude.

However, a significant obstacle to creating jewelry using this mineral is its fragility. This property requires both high skill from the jeweler, and careful attitude of the owner. Beads, bracelets and rings with chrysocolla can not be dropped or struck - this they can not survive.

The desire to purchase an ornament with a greenish-blue mineral is accompanied by a logical question: how much does a chrysocolla stone cost? The price depends on many factors. The value of the insert or beads, the complexity of the processing, and the artistic features of the product are also important. In this sense, the mineral does not differ from the others. The stone of a chrysocolla, whose price can reach fabulous sizes, often becomes an instance of a private collection.

From the mineral, cabochons, beads and insets are made. He often decorates rings and bracelets. The strongest are the compounds of the chrysocolla with agate.

Chrysocolla Stone: Magic Properties

Mineral wears one more name - a stone of wisdom. In esoteric practices, chrysocolla is a stone whose properties allow the owner to see reality as such, save from the tempting captivity of illusions. Mineral promotes concentration, concentration, improves the quality of mental processes.

Another of its features is the distinct dominance of the feminine principle. Treatment of diseases of the uterus, the development of maternal feelings, the increase of maiden sensuality - all this, in the opinion of lithotherapists, is capable of a stone of chrysocolla. The magical properties of the mineral contribute to an easier transfer of the consequences of abortions, miscarriages.

Chrysocollis is credited with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It helps fight against acute respiratory disease and influenza. Often a stone is used as a material for amulets: it protects the owner from witchcraft, drives away fears. Chrysocolla is also recommended to be worn in case of problems with the thyroid gland.

Astromineralogy

Each sign of the zodiac is easier to interact with certain stones. Available for all materials on astromineralogy easily allow you to determine who is better to present a product from a particular mineral. Not an exception and chrysocolla: stone, properties, the sign of the zodiac, that is, the physical, magical and astrological characteristics of the mineral are closely intertwined. Of course, the impact will extend to a person born on any day. However, according to astrominerology, only for representatives of certain signs it is of special value.

So, who is most useful to the stone of the chrysocolla? The sign of the zodiac Taurus, as well as Sagittarius, Cancer and Aquarius suggest the person's initial readiness to interact with this mineral. Born in periods subordinate to these signs, the chrysocolla fills with wisdom and health.

So, the chrysocolla is a stone known from ancient times and has since been used as a source of magical powers. It should be noted that modern science is skeptical about treating with minerals in a form such as lithotherapy offers. A beautiful ornamental material, formed during the oxidation of copper ore, is what, from the point of view of scientists, is a chrysocolla. Stone - properties - the sign of the zodiac - this bunch in science does not represent value and is considered unproven. Of course, choosing a point of view is a personal matter for everyone, but it's worth remembering that astrologers and lithotherapists themselves stipulate: wearing amulets often does not prevent the disease, but it can ensure its easy flow, and full recovery depends on many factors.
