Cantilever crane: device and applications

The cantilever crane is used mainly as an auxiliary tool during operation of the overhead crane and is installed in the same room, but to a level lower. This type is very popular in enterprises. This is explained by its versatility, convenience and efficiency.

In the industry, basically two types of cantilever cranes are used: a mobile and a stationary cantilever crane. Movable is a console, mounted on a vertical frame. The frame, in turn, rests on two wheels with a separate drive. Such a faucet is fixed on the wall, it can move only along it. Moving takes place on special guides using an electric mechanism.

The second type is a stationary cantilever crane. This type is attached either to the wall of the building, or to a vertically standing tubular or box-like column. In this case, the column is placed on the foundation. In the event that the console can be rotated, this type is called a "cantilever-rotary valve."

Moving of cargoes is made with the help of tackle fixed on the console and moving along it. It can move as if using a mechanism installed on it itself, so with the help of a cable rod leading to the winch of the console. In the second case, it is possible to move loads with a large range of speeds. The console itself is moved manually, using a rope, most often fixed at its end, or an electric motor. In the latter case, the device will be called a "cantilever electric cock".

If a pillar is used as a support, the crane may have two arms. It is called a two-arm. Single-arm (single-beam) cranes are lighter and cost less. A two-arm can lift loads of greater weight and withstand greater stress.

Feasibility of using different types of cranes

1. In the event that it is necessary to lift loads not too heavy, it is better to use a cantilever crane with a manual hoist and a manual turn of the console. Such devices are often very convenient, since they are easy to manage.
2. If you need to lift and move heavy loads, it is better to use a crane with electric traction. In addition, it is not bad if it will be equipped with a hoist (electric hoist to move the tackle).
3. If, for any production reasons, special stability is required, it is best to move the goods using a cantilever double-arm crane.

In addition, the industry produces this equipment and to order, if necessary, its operation in any specific conditions. In this case, the length of the console, the angle of its rotation, the height of the load lifting, the total load capacity of the crane can be increased.
