British band Yes: discography and success story

British Yes was organized in London in 1968 by John Anderson (vocals) and Chris Squire (bass guitar). They were united by common views on the development of music in the style of "progressive rock", and both performers already had some experience in Musical collectives. The first composition of Yes included also Peter Banks (guitar, vocals) and Bill Braford (drums). In 1969 the band released their first album, called Yes. The work of young performers was highly marked by music critics and was awarded excellent reviews in the magazine Rolling Stone. In this album, Yes included a very unusual version of the singles of The Byrds "I See You". Rolling Stone magazine noted the special musical style and refined taste in the performing skills of young musicians. In the second album, released in 1970, Yes group used the sound of a symphony orchestra in arrangements. In the UK, the compositions of the band were very popular, but in other countries so far no one knew anything about Yes.

First success

Musicians strive to make maximum use of new technologies in their creative work and update their composition. The band is joined by guitarist Steve Howe and keyboardist Rick Wakeman. Yes has its own signature sound. The new work - Close To The Edge, released in 1972, was the peak of the work of the band Yes. The album becomes golden, and musicians start triumphant tours around the US. Despite the commercial success, from the group Yes in the following years, musicians leave, and its composition is constantly changing. In 1976, the band begins collaborating with the new producer R. Thomas Baker, who previously worked with Queen. The new album Yes, which was released in 1977 under the name Going For The One, immediately took off to the top of the national charts, and in the US took the eighth place. In the following years, the group begins to fever: new works do not accompany the previous success, disagreements begin, and Anderson and Waikmen leave the group. Only in 1980, the Yes Group released again the successful album Drama. Subsequent concerts Yes in Madison Square Garden collect an unprecedented sold-out. Despite this, the group leaves the guitarist Howe, who entered the best part of the group Asia.

Changes in the group

The renewed composition of Yes in 1983 was born with the album 90125, which immediately became platinum, and the single entitled Owner Of A Lonely Heart took first place in the US charts. Music Yes departs from art-rock in the direction of pop music, which is not justified in the future. In the 90 years the songs of Yes are badly received, Concerts are canceled. For the first time after a long break for the fortieth anniversary of Yes in 2008, it is planned to collect the best team and go on a world tour. But the tour had to be canceled because of the serious illness of John Anderson. Rock band Yes went on tour only in the US with a new vocalist Benoit David, and instead of Rick Wakeman, his son Oliver performed. Again, the main part of the group Yes gathered in 2011 to record the album Fly from Here, the twenty-first in a row. This work was well received by fans of the group, and the musicians again go on tour in North America. At these concerts the compositions from the group's three best albums are fully executed: The Yes album, Close to the Edge and Going for the One. After the tour the musicians announce that they intend to gather again in 2013 to work in the studio on a new album.
