Fire can be a friend to a person and an enemy. Sometimes it causes significant damage, takes lives. For example, buildings can burn as a result of arson. It is necessary to understand how this phenomenon qualifies, and also to consider the peculiarities of its investigation. Examination of arson is carried out by experienced specialists who know all the nuances of the procedure.

What is arson? Reasons for its implementation

First you need to understand the term. Thus, the arson of a house is basically the deliberate destruction of property, carried out using an open flame. In some cases, fire can kill life.

The arson of a house, car or other property can be carried out for a specific reason:

  • To hide the traces of an already committed crime or to prepare for it;
  • With the goal of revenge;
  • To intimidate victims or other persons interfering in the implementation of illegal actions;
  • For obtaining insurance.

In addition, the arson of a car or a house can occur because of improper compliance with fire safety rules, improper storage of explosive and flammable means.

Ways of committing arson

There are various means that ensure the fire of a building or equipment. Therefore, there are different ways to carry out arson.

  1. With the help of specially prepared substances that can quickly ignite.
  2. Creation of conditions in which any materials will ignite independently, which will contribute to the occurrence of a fire.
  3. With the use of special technical devices, as well as designed products, through which arson can be done at a certain time. Thus, the offender can delay the fire to ward off suspicion.

For example, an arson of a car is often carried out with the help of an explosive or by damaging the electrical wiring.

Tasks of expertise

Now we should consider what specialists are required to do. The arson examination should perform the following tasks:

  • To find out whether the ignition was deliberately caused;
  • Determine which methods of arson were used;
  • Set the fire time of the object;
  • Determine the nature of the damage and its size;
  • To establish how the situation changed during the extinguishment of the fire;
  • If there are deceased, then it is necessary to find out how death came. For this purpose a medical examination of the bodies is carried out.

In principle, these are all the main tasks, which arises from the examination of arson. On the basis of the information received, criminal proceedings are instituted in the future.

Peculiarities of examination

In order to understand how the crimes related to fires are being investigated, it is necessary to consider the procedure for carrying out the necessary investigative actions. So, the examination of arson involves the implementation of certain specific stages.

  1. Initial inspection of the scene. It allows you to identify the source of fire, the way of spreading fire and the features of the development of the fire, to detect traces of an attacker and other parameters.
  2. Then a survey of eyewitnesses is conducted.
  3. Fire-technical expertise. It ensures the establishment of a fire.
  4. Investigation of substances and materials with the help of which ignition could be caused. At this stage, experiments are conducted with combustion products, which can be on different surfaces.
  5. Electrotechnical research. Here it is established whether a malfunction or deliberate damage to the wiring could have caused the fire. In addition, this study helps to find out how the emergency protection systems worked. It is mandatory that such an examination be conducted if the car was set on fire.
  6. Forensic medical research. It is held only if the corpse was found at the scene of the crime.
  7. Investigative experiment. Thanks to this action, the picture of the crime is restored. It must necessarily be carried out at the place where the fire occurred.

In this way, an investigation of the atrocity is carried out by experts of a special laboratory.

Intentional arson and responsibility for it

Very often, ignition occurs by someone's will. That is, deliberate arson is carried out. However, this crime necessarily has criminal consequences for the offender.

The presented atrocity provides for the following types of punishment: restriction or deprivation of liberty. It all depends on the severity of the arson, as well as the presence of victims or dead people. At the same time, a criminal can spend three years behind bars. The upper threshold of the duration of punishment is unlimited.

It should be said that the responsibility for such an atrocity comes already from the age of fourteen. If the damage is not very large, and no one is killed during the fire, the offender will receive up to five years in prison. Naturally, the Criminal Code provides for different qualifications of the offense.

That's all. Be reasonable.
