History

Airport "Vostochny" (Ulyanovsk) was not originally that. It was intended primarily for testing the Ulyanovsk Aviation Plant. The runway from the armored concrete of the experimental aerodrome is 5100 m and 105 m wide. It is the longest in the world and perfectly suited for the test works of the enterprise.

• 1980 - creation of ground and flight tests on the basis of UAVC Aviastar;

• 1983 - commissioning of a unique runway;

• 1994 - the aerodrome was declared a joint-basing airport (squadron AN-2 VS) and was registered in the register of civil aviation enterprises;
• 1995 - it was announced that the airfield can serve all types of domestic and international aircraft, with the exception of Airbus A380 ;
• 1998 - registration of the aerodrome as an independent enterprise with the management company CJSC "International Airport" Ulyanovsk-Vostochny ";
• 1999 - the airport "Vostochny" (Ulyanovsk) officially received the status of an international aerodrome;
• 2001 - according to the order of the Ministry of Transport, the airfield has the right to service passenger and freight flights (carrying capacity - 100 passengers per hour with round-the-clock operation);
• 2009 - on the territory adjoining the airport a special economic zone with tax privileges for the provision of logistics services has been created (resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation);
• 2010-2013 - reconstruction of part of the airport building;
• 2016 - the company's work is suspended due to repair of the runway, which is expected to be completed in 2017.
