We understand: nostalgia is ...

All people like to remember the past. Someone is happy with his memories, but someone is always sad, because before it was better. They say that a person is given nostalgia. What does this mean?

About the term

It is worth noting that this term has a foreign origin. "Nostalgia" is a Greek word that, by adding two parts, formed one, and in translation means "homesickness (native places)". In practice, this concept was introduced by a Swedish doctor when he examined the miraculous disease of soldiers in foreign countries. It was interesting that on returning to their native places these men were completely cured of their illness, although a few days ago it seemed that the person is slowly fading away, and the outcome of his life is simply inevitable. It was from that time that nostalgia was considered a disease of the psyche, which most emigrants suffer, people who left their native country forever.

Changes

Later, when this "disease" began to interest more and more scientists, it underwent some changes. Now it is considered that nostalgia is a longing not for the native places, but for its past. After all, most patients recalled not any territorial features, namely everything related to childhood, adolescence, youth, i.e. "Good times." It is a longing for your beautiful past, and no matter where it passed.

About the reasons

Why do people start to indulge in nostalgia? When does this happen most often? After all, the young age of this disease is not overloaded. Yearning for the past often occurs in older people, as well as in lonely people. Only when there is time to indulge in memories, they can begin to torment a person. If he is young, he practically does not sit still. He simply has no time to indulge. The same applies to a person who is constantly surrounded by people. If he is in constant motion, nostalgia for the past simply does not have time to overtake him.

About adults

Modern youth believes that today to live much better than before. But for some reason our grandmothers always remember their youth, which was quite unsweetened. Why do they have nostalgia for the USSR, because already today historians say that at that time it was rather difficult to live? Here the explanation is quite simple. Whatever the heavy youth, it will always be for man the sweetest, pleasant period of life. And it's not about money or the availability of material goods. It's all about the state of the soul when it seems that everything is ahead, a big and bright life road is open, and a person is full of strength and energy. "Babushkina" Soviet nostalgia - it's just a memory of youth with all its charms, worries and troubles. It is safe to say that after a while, modern youth will also idealize this period of time, giving it some special pleasant features, despite all the hardships of this life. This is nostalgia - these are those pleasant memories that you so much want to indulge in, although it is sometimes very hard.
