We fly to Copenhagen: Kastrup airport (infrastructure, location, hotels)

The capital of Denmark - Copenhagen - the airport has an impressive. It is considered the largest on the entire Scandinavian Peninsula. And in Europe, Kastrup (so officially called the airport terminal in Copenhagen) takes the honorary seventeenth position. The popularity of these air gates is growing from year to year. From here in one hundred and eleven destinations around the world send their planes sixty-three airlines. For 2012, Kastrup missed over twenty-three million passengers. And now every day the airport serves about sixty thousand people. How not to get lost in this influx of passengers? How to get to the city center? Where to sleep nearby? Let's look at these questions.

History of Castrup

This is one of the oldest airports in Europe. It was erected in 1925. Fifteen years later, a small building, called the "Wooden Castle", became a museum, and in its place was built a terminal designed by Wilhelm Laurittzen. After that, Kastrup got a new name - "Copenhagen Airport". However, this building was also reconstructed in the late 60s of the last century. Now the airport of the capital of Denmark has three terminals, the fourth is being built - especially for low-cost maintenance. All these buildings are located on the island of Amager, in the municipality of Thornby. But the airport is not far from the center of Denmark's capital. It's only eight kilometers southeast of the city.

Infrastructure Castrup

Now "Copenhagen" (airport) has turned into a small town. It has three main terminals, now one more must be opened. The first, the oldest, is adapted for domestic flights. Terminal number 1, or, as it is also called, "seven small houses" (according to the number of adjacent pavilions), serves the campaigns of Cimber Air, "Danish Airlines" and SAS. From it depart planes to Billund, Bornholm, Karup, Aalborg, Aarhus and Sonderborg. On the corridor you can go to the terminal number 2. It, like No. 3, is already used for international flights.

Specify where exactly your flight departs from will be assisted by the Copenhagen Airport Scheme, which is located in the arrivals and departures halls of all terminals. It lists carrier airlines, as well as destinations for scheduled flights. About the schedule of charters, as well as the possible delay in aircraft announcing the electronic scoreboard.

Transport connections

The third terminal was built in 1998, and its infrastructure is most thought out. It is from here that trains leave for other cities in Denmark and even for Sweden via the Öresund Bridge. Under the terminal number 3 there is also a metro station. Line M2 in a few minutes will take you to Copenhagen. The airport will soon get another terminal - CPH Go. It will be fully "imprisoned" for the maintenance of budget airlines - the so-called low-cost. If you do not know which terminal you need, do not worry - between all the buildings of the airport charge free shuttles, and often, with an interval of fifteen minutes, and around the clock.

Copenhagen, airport: how to get to the city

Overcome the distance of eight kilometers and can be a taxi. Cars with a counter are waiting for their passengers at the arrival areas in all airport terminals. There are also bus stops. You need No. 5A. The direction of the City Center should be indicated on the scoreboard of the car. The ticket can be bought from the driver. Buses run at intervals of 10-15 minutes, and the journey time will be half an hour.

Another option to get to the city is the train. He drives you to Copenhagen Central Station in a quarter of an hour. Be careful: the trains to the city are sent from platform number 2 under the third terminal. The train variant is good if you plan to immediately travel to Denmark or Sweden. The Copenhagen railway station is located practically in the center of the city. To get close to the hotel, use the underground. It works around the clock, the trains run at intervals of 5 minutes in the afternoon and 15 at night. By the time you do not get lost - the same quarter of an hour as on the train. The entrance to the metro is located at the end of Terminal No. 3.

Early departures and late arrivals

If you are very tired with a long trip and dream to rest more quickly, then there is nothing easier. Directly to the terminal number 3 is adjacent to its wing hotel "Hilton Copenhagen Airport". The hotel offers its guests not only accommodation in cozy rooms with panoramic windows from floor to ceiling overlooking the Straits of Eresuni. Absolutely free of charge you will be registered on your flight. Fatigue as a hand lift in the spa with pool Ni'mat. And in the morning you can recharge your vigor in the gym.
