Vologda region: attractions and photos

The Vologda region (sights we will consider further) in modern features was formed in the beginning of autumn of 1937. The Vologda region has played a significant role in the economic and political life of Russia since ancient times. This area is also famous for its cultural heritage. So, he is famous for poetic oral creativity, hand-written books, monuments of stone and wooden architecture, skilful works of folk artists, painting.

About sights in general

The Vologda region, whose sights are of interest not only to historians, but also to ordinary tourists, has over 3,500 monuments of cultural and historical heritage on its territory. They are represented by objects of archeology, stone buildings, church and monastery complexes, architecture from wood and ancient manors.

The Ferapontov Monastery is the pearl of the Vologda region. This orthodox complex belongs to the XV-XVII centuries and has an integral and special architecture. On the territory of the cultural object is the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin, decorated with frescoes, which belong to the brush of Dionysius. Thanks to this, the cathedral gained worldwide fame. After all, the name of such a great artist is in the same row along with the name of Andrei Rublev himself.

The Vologda region can be proud of the true achievements of the church art. Attractions are a vivid confirmation of this. In their role are the Kazan Cathedral, which is located in Ustyuzhna, St. Sophia Cathedral (Vologda), Voskresensky (Cherepovets) and the Cathedral of Procopius the Righteous (Veliky Ustyug).

Wooden art of the Vologda region

Vologda region (the sights here are mostly ancient and survived many sorrows in their time) has a huge number of monuments of wooden architecture. They are represented by ancient chapels, houses, farm buildings and churches. The tree embodies all the main styles of architecture of the late XVIII century and early XX. All directions are presented here: from classicism and Empire style down to modernism with rationalism. Up to now, the following urban buildings have come from the tree: profitable houses, mansions belonging to merchants, nobles and petty bourgeois, and public buildings .

The only one of its kind of wooden architectural structure is the church of the Deposition of the Deposition, dating from 1485. There is a temple in the village of Borodaevo. It is also worth noting the Ilyinsky church in 1692 (village Saminsky churchyard).

Kirillov

The city of Kirillov appeared as a settlement belonging to the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. It was founded in 1397 by Cyril Belozersky. The settlement is located on the shores of the Dolgoye and Siverskoe Lakes. Kirillov (Vologda region), whose sights are very, very interesting, is 127 kilometers from Vologda itself.

The whole area is replete with all sorts of objects of antiquity. All this was placed on the background of the fantastic nature of the national park "Russian North". But the most important is the main city attraction - the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.

About the monastery

Sights of Kirillov in the Vologda region will not be fully appreciated by tourists if they do not get acquainted with the business card of the city - the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery in detail. The complex has simply a gigantic territory, which housed a couple of individual monasteries and countless ancient buildings surrounded by powerful walls and towers.

The monastery has access to the lake. From this place are opened indescribable landscapes. The most "gray" building of the complex is called the Great Dormition Monastery. Also here it is possible to carry Mountain Ivanovsky or the Small monastery. These two objects make up the area of the so-called Old Town.

Belozersk

The city of Belozersk was first mentioned in The Tale of Bygone Years. Here the name of the village sounds like Beloozero. Belozersk (Vologda region), whose sights are rare monuments of architecture and history, are not only objects created by man, but also natural monuments. Each of the epochs managed to leave its imprint in the form of special types of buildings, architectural and decorative forms.

The most ancient object is the Church of the Assumption. It dates from the year 1553. According to the legends, the bell for the temple was purchased in 1545. The parishioners of the Assumption shrine bought it.

In Belozersk there are quite a lot of stone houses, the most interesting of which is a mansion on two floors, erected in the first half of the XIX century. There is a landmark on the street of Svobody, 14. The architecture of the building is late classicism. And if you look closely, you can conclude that the house was built incredibly gifted architect.
