This article will be useful to those people who have decided to connect their lives with writing articles or doing some work related to writing text works, but so far have little knowledge in this area. In this article, we'll figure out how to make paragraphs in the Word. Such a small supposedly trifling, but still necessary in almost every job, but after reading the article you will learn as much as three ways how to do it.

Make a paragraph using the ruler

Now let's take a look at how to make paragraphs in the Word using the Ruler tool. This method has both advantages and disadvantages. Among the advantages one can single out the speed of execution, and the disadvantages include an inaccuracy in the measurement. But first things first. Now let's go directly to the point.

Usually the line in the program is enabled by default, but if for some reason you do not have it, do the following:

  1. Click the "View" tab.
  2. Find the "Show" area on the toolbar.
  3. Check the box next to "Ruler".

After that, the desired tool will appear in your interface.

We are only interested in the line that is at the top. As you can see, it has three sliders on the left side and one on the right. For the paragraphs, the uppermost slider on the left is responsible.

To indent the first line of each paragraph, first select the entire text. If it is quite large, you can use the hot keys CTRL + A. After that, hold down the left mouse button, drag the upper slider to the right, exactly as far as you need to indent.

Use the menu options "Paragraph"

So, the first way how to make paragraphs in the "Word", we dismantled. As mentioned, it is applied quite quickly, but you can not specify the exact parameter. What can not be said about the method, which we now disassemble. And we will analyze how to make paragraphs in the "Word" using the "Paragraph" settings menu.

The name of the menu speaks for itself, it can set all the necessary parameters. But initially it is worth discovering it. To do this, click the icon that appears in the image below. It is located on the Home tab. Do not forget to select the part of the text in which you want to indent.

In the appeared window we are interested in only one area - "Indent". There is a drop-down list on the right side. After opening it, select "Indent", and in the left field enter the distance directly to which the paragraph will be made.

This was the second way, how to make a paragraph in the "Word". Do not forget to apply all changes after making adjustments by clicking the "OK" button.

Apply tabs

So, we have already considered two ways, as in the "Word" to make paragraphs. With the help of the first one, you could quickly indent the first line of a paragraph, but you could not specify exact parameters. And with the help of the second, on the contrary, time was spent more, but you could specify the exact parameter. Now we will consider tabulation.

To be honest, it's not even quite a paragraph, but just a long space before the word, but it can not be distinguished from the paragraph visually. This action is performed using the TAB key. Its location on the keyboard can be seen below.

Initially, place the cursor where you want to indent, and then press TAB. This method is good in that it is done very quickly, but the main disadvantage is that if there are many paragraphs, it takes a lot of time.
