Mysteries left to the descendants of the ancient civilizations of the past, still remain in the category of unsolved. Our country can also boast such buildings. Of course, the megaliths of Russia are not as well known as the English Stonehenge, but no less mysterious. Megaliths - what is it?

Any study of riddles begins with terminology, so we also need to find out what exactly megaliths really are. In the mid-nineteenth century, the English explorer first introduced a new term, which was to characterize the vast group of structures of the late Neolithic period. In Greek, the megalith means "big stone", which allows the term to be used in a fairly wide range.

Classification of megaliths

Despite the fact that the appointment of many megalithic structures is still being studied by archaeologists, they have managed to classify these structures. Conditionally they are divided into two groups. The first include megaliths, which were built from almost untreated stone blocks. In them one large stone was installed on the other, thus the walls and the roof were formed. Such architectural monuments are preserved in large numbers throughout the world, sometimes they are represented by labyrinths of stones or a group of blocks with petroglyphs. The cultures that left such monuments, scientists called megalithic.

The second group of megaliths is of greater interest to archaeologists. These facilities can not be called rude, and their appointment has not been determined so far. Most often, ancient megaliths are a masonry of large blocks, in some cases weighing more than a hundred tons. They are carefully processed and have a clear geometric shape. Each block is perfectly fitted to the other, so it is difficult to insert even the knife blade into the gap between them. Surprisingly, usually career, where such huge stone blocks could be extracted, were located for several tens of kilometers from the construction site. As the ancient people moved them, it is still unknown. In addition, written sources do not even mention the technology of processing megaliths and the appointment of the building itself. In this regard, scientists are constantly pushing new versions.

Archaeologists and historians can not come to a common opinion in the dispute about the appointment of megalithic buildings. Most of them believe that the megaliths of the first group were used mainly as burial chambers. Mysterious Devil's Fortress: a description

Tourists examined here turtles, rats, seals and various idols, which now belong to the only inhabitants of the majestic Stone Town.

In the south of the Kemerovo region there are megaliths of the Mountain Shoria, which are the subject of the most furious dispute between Russian scientists. This place researchers were interested in Soviet times, but most of the roads leading to Shoria Mountain were then blocked by roadblocks. There were places of detention in this area, and it was not possible to investigate megaliths. In the early nineties, scientists made another attempt to study the mysterious blocks, but the collapse of the USSR for a long time cooled the fervor of the researcher. Two years ago, thanks to enthusiast Georgy Sidorov, a research expedition was assembled, which came just to the sensational conclusions about megaliths of Mountain Shoria.

In different parts of the mountain massif, researchers discovered megalithic structures of incredible size. One of the walls had a length of two hundred meters, and its blocks weighed about one thousand tons. Many boulders measured twenty meters by seven meters, and the wall, built of them, is at an altitude of one thousand meters. It is difficult to imagine how megaliths came to such a height.

Their treatment caused scientists a real delight, because almost all the blocks have a clear geometric shape, and many are perfectly matched to each other. Mount Pidan in Primorye is one of the most mysterious places in Russia. A lot of legends have been written about it, and none of the research groups could explain the magical energy of the mountain.

Pidan is two hours away by car from Vladivostok and towers over the sea for one thousand three hundred meters. Every year thousands of tourists come here, and in the season on the trail you can meet several hundred tourists at the same time, ready to spend the whole day on this difficult journey. What attracts people so much? After all, it is known that once climbing Pidan once, many become "attached" to this mountain and strive here annually, or even twice a year.

At the moment, there are several variants of the origin of the name of the mountain, but scientists believe that it means the phrase "stones thrown by the gods." According to legend, the gods threw a handful of stones to the Bohai warriors, competing in strength and dexterity. But these are all legends, but in fact Pidan is filled with secrets puzzles, which stir the minds of our contemporaries.

Under the mountain scientists found a large lake with healing water, it helps to gain strength and relieves fatigue. Getting to the lake is quite difficult, but every tourist can swim in the mountain waterfalls and drink water from the rivers running down the slopes.
