Fish-hell - this is really some kind of devil! Hence the name. The angler

It was due to the peculiar kind of dorsal fin that this fish was called a swallow. It is interesting that such a "rod" at its end has a certain thickening of the spherical shape (or blade), by which the sea features entice its prey.

Habitat

Since our line is called marine, its main habitat is the sea: the fish meets in the coastal waters of the Atlantic stretching from the Barents Sea to the Gulf of Guinea. Floats fish-devils at a depth of 50 to 250 meters.

Lifestyle

The lion's share of his time is spent on the bottom of the creation. It is hiding and waiting for its prey. The sea line is a fish (photo 1, 2, 3) of rather large sizes - up to 2 meters in length and weighing more than 20 kilograms! In addition, it is able to radically change its coloring to surrounding objects, in this case - under the ground.

Hunting

In expectation of its extraction, the sea features absolutely motionless. He is quite capable of holding his breath, breathing in and out after 2 minutes. As already mentioned above, the bait for the prey is the thickening on the end of its "rod". It is worth the potential victim to approach this bait, as soon as the huge mouth of the sea line opens and, swallowing the victim, instantly slams. You do not even know how fast this happens!

Diet

The menu for this creature is as follows: flounder, cod, gerbils, bullheads, rays, eels and even large vertebrates - crabs. From time to time the fish-devil ascends into the water column, eating mackerel, herring and even waterfowl. It is interesting that the attacks on the latter sometimes fail for our "devils": often, the anglers find themselves killed by the fact that they are choking on too large a prey. Probably, it comes from greed ...

Reproduction

Spawning of these fishes runs at great depth, however their eggs are much lighter than water, so they always float to the surface. It is here that larvae appear from them, which begin to eat intensively, grow rapidly and slowly sink, until they return to the "homeland" -in unknown depths.
