The main faults of UMZ

In the cooling system, too, a flaw was detected. At medium engine speeds and when the car was moving at a speed of 60 km / h, the coolant temperature was normal, but if you just slowed down or got caught in a traffic jam, the 4216 engine quickly picked up the temperature, right up to the boiling point of the coolant. Supply system

The fuel supply is controlled by a variety of sensors: the temperature element of the injected air, the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors, the absolute pressure part, the throttle valve position. The feed control system is also equipped with an oxygen indicator. The latter is installed in the exhaust system before the neutralizer. Engine 4216 (injector) for greater reliability and durability should work only on high-quality gasoline, taking into account the regular replacement of fuel filters and periodic diagnostics of fuel equipment. Motorists say that with competent operation the total life of the power unit can reach 500 thousand kilometers. This feature is also different for the injection plant of the Zavolzhsky motor plant (the engines of ZMZ 405 and 406 are meant).

Gas distribution mechanism

In 2010, at the Ulyanovsk plant, the gasoline engine underwent a process of modernization of the gas distribution mechanism. In general, it affected the change in cam profile camshaft, which contributed to an increase in the valve stroke by one millimeter. These innovations were necessary to improve the stable operation of the unit at idle, and also to achieve the norms and requirements of the Euro-3 standard.

The valve springs did not change at the same time, and this led to the fact that the acting force on the springs crossed the norm, and now it was 180 kgf. When installing a regular set of rods on a new engine, until the state of the heated engine was reached, the knocking of the hydraulic compensators was heard.

In order to prevent this problem, the force of the springs should be changed by removing the internal springs of the valves.

Advantages of rods with hydraulic compensators

The UMZ-4216 engine with hydraulic compensators does not require additional maintenance due to the absence of valve gaps during the entire period of operation. Due to this, the noise level is noticeably reduced. High engine speed is now not critical, since the construction of the hydraulic compensators is based on the stabilization factor for the appearance of critical loads. The degree of wear of the mating surfaces of the parts of the mechanism is significantly reduced. Due to the optimization of the gas distribution phases, the harmful impurities of the exhaust gases are stably low throughout the entire operation period.

Crankcase ventilation

The motor is supplied with a ventilation system of the crankcase cavity of the closed type. Part of the gases passing through the compression rings is diverted to the intake manifold in a combined way. The system is operated by a pressure difference between the crankcase and the intake path. At the moment when the engine 4216 is operating under increased load conditions, gases are discharged through a special large branch.

On a small branch, the gas is removed when the unit is idling and at minimum loads.

In the front cover of the pusher unit is installed a regulator of the draft of the ventilation system, which performs the function of separating the microparticles of the oil from the gases and serves to prevent dust from entering into the crankcase when the draft in the intake system is increased.

Butter

The engine lubrication system is of a combined type (spraying and under pressure). The oil that sucks the oil pump out of the pallet passes through the oil channels into the oil filter housing. Then it enters the cavity of the second jumper block, and from there - into the trunk. On the crankshaft and crankshaft, the oil comes from the oil main.

Crankpins are lubricated by oil flow through the channels from the main bearings. This principle lubricates the parts of the gas distribution mechanism.

The volume of oil poured into the crankcase of the engine is 5.8 liters.

Cooling system

The cooling system is closed, water. It consists of a water pump (pump), a thermostat, a water jacket in the cylinder block and a head, a cooling radiator, an expansion tank, a forced cooling fan, connecting pipes and a heater radiator.
