Stadium named after Eduard Streltsov. Biography of the great football player

On the eve of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Moscow, they must reconstruct and build new sports arenas. In the process of erecting the stands there are facilities for the clubs "Dynamo" and CSKA, their home has appeared in "Spartacus". The Eduard Streltsov Stadium will not be involved in the 2018 World Cup, but, undoubtedly, it will be landscaped and refined to this event. One of the oldest and most popular clubs in the country, which is the Moscow "Torpedo" (conducting matches in this arena), of course, deserves to have a comfortable and modern sports complex.

History of the stadium

The Eduard Streltsov Stadium was built in 1959. Originally, football players of the Moscow "Torpedo" trained on his field. The only tribune accommodated only 1,500 spectators. Before the Moscow Olympiad, the stadium was reconstructed. New stands, locker rooms and administrative rooms were built. The stadium named after Eduard Streltsov could now accommodate 16,000 fans. The next and last reconstruction of the sports facility took place in 1997. There was a major overhaul of the premises and installed plastic seats, due to which the capacity of the stands decreased and is currently 13,500 spectators.

Eduard Streltsov

Stadium "Torpedo" named after Eduard Streltsov named in honor of one of the brightest strikers of Soviet football. A gifted boy born in the Moscow region already at the age of 16 went to the training camp together with a team of masters "Avtozavodtsev". He received the invitation after he liked the head coach of "Torpedo" in the game of youth teams "black and white" against "Fraser" (Perov), for which he acted. A tall, broad-shouldered guy with excellent speed and dribbling in a year took a solid place at the heart of the "Torpedo".

A bunch of attacking team Ivanov - Streltsov was one of the most scoring goals in the USSR in those years. In 1956, as part of the national team, they became Olympic champions in Melbourne. For the disinterested and good-natured nature of the young player enjoyed the respect and love of the fans. And here in the fate of the footballer there have been terrible changes. A couple of days before leaving for the World Championships in Sweden in 1958, Streltsov, in company with Ogonkov and Tatushin (players of the USSR national team), and familiar girls were at a dacha from a common comrade. Rest with drinking alcohol and fun ended with the morning in the police appealed to girls with a statement about rape. It's not for us to judge what happened there and who is really to blame, but after all the investigative actions the court decided to punish only Eduard Streltsov. The verdict was cruel - 12 years imprisonment. Five years later, in 1963, he was released ahead of schedule.

Triumphant return

Two years later he returned to his native team and won the USSR championship in the "Torpedo", and in 1967 and 1968 he became the best football player of the country. Unfortunately, the severe injury that the player received in the season of 1968 put an end to further performances by Edward, and in 1970 he finished his brilliant but not fully realized career. He died a great striker in 1990 from cancer. In Moscow, the football arena "Torpedo" was renamed the stadium named after Eduard Streltsov. Photos and prizes of the legendary striker are kept in the museum of the club. Streltsov to this day is one of the best scorers in the history of the football team "Torpedo".

Moscow "avtozavodtsy"

One of the oldest clubs in our country was formed in the distant September 1922 and had the name "Zamoskvorechye". It was then on a small football court, equipped with residents of the nearest houses (the place of the current metro station "Avtozavodskaya"), a historic meeting was held against the RCC team from Finland. That match ended with a convincing victory of the hosts with a score of 7: 1. The foundation date of the football club "Torpedo" is considered to be 1930. Then the country's leadership decided to create physical education organizations in production. The Football Club was established on the basis of the Moscow Automobile Society (AMO). In the future, the car giant was repeatedly renamed (ZIS, ZIL, ZIL, AMO ZIL), but the name of the team "Torpedo" has remained unchanged since 1936.

The golden age of the club is the 60-70s of the last century. It was then that the "Avtozavodtsy" became winners and prize-winners of the USSR championship and the owners of the Cup of the country. The leaders of the team were Valentin Ivanov, Valery Voronin, Victor Shustikov, Boris Batanov, Eduard Streltsov. Later, in 1976, under the guidance of the coaches Ivanov and Shustikov "torpedovtsy" became champions of the USSR.

The modern history of the team

In 1996, the ZIL plant, which owns the club, sells the team to a new owner - Luzhniki. "Torpedo" leaves the stadium named after Eduard Streltsov and holds his home matches on the field of BSA "Luzhniki". In 1999 - 2002 years. The team under the leadership of Vitaliy Shevchenko is at the leading positions of the Russian championship, while demonstrating a bright attacking football. In 2000, "black and white" took 3rd place in the championship of Russia. To date, this is the last success of the team. In 2006, "Torpedo" because of financial problems for the first time in its history left the highest division of Russian football. Over the next nine years, the team managed to lose the status of a professional club, dropping into the amateur league, then go all the way to the Premier League and again due to lack of funds to drop into the second division of domestic football.

The future of the stadium on East Street

Today, a new scheme of the Eduard Streltsov stadium is ready, which should come to life after 2016. According to the plans of the management of the complex, for this time reconstruction of the arena and the nearby territory is planned. The capacity of the stadium stands will increase to 15,000 spectators. The alley and monument to the great player will be reconstructed. There will be a new children's and youth football school. They will build a road that will improve accessibility to the stadium named after Eduard Streltsov. The address, which is known to more than one generation of Torpedo fans, will remain the same: Moscow, ul. Eastern, 4, building 1.
