Spores in bacteria serve to preserve the species under adverse conditions

Bacteria - one of the most unpretentious in the world of creatures, created by nature. And I must say, she tried, by investing in these microorganisms an unsurpassed safety margin: the ability to survive in a variety of environmental conditions. They are not affected by a wide range of temperature changes, and acidic environment, they can live deep under the earth and under water, high in the sky, and even in space, under vacuum. And in a pernicious environment, microorganisms do not perish, but create a special form of their existence.

Bacteria spore

It is an adaptation to unfavorable conditions: a change in humidity, a lack of nutrients, an aging culture, and temperature changes. A kind of "life insurance". Disputes in bacteria serve to preserve the genus and are not an instrument or a method of reproduction. In contrast to fungi, where spores are also intended for these purposes. In this state, the bacterium can remain "mothballed" for many years. And after, when environmental conditions become favorable, spores in bacteria serve to make microorganisms again able to form a culture.

Different kinds

In different bacteria, spores differ in form and location in the cell. For example, in a hay bacillus, for example, they are located in the center and do not exceed the diameter. And the tetanus is spherical and located at the end (the diameter of the formation exceeds the diameter of the cell itself). But in any case, the spores of bacteria serve to "survive" in an unfavorable environment.

How are they formed?

In many microorganisms, spores can form intracellularly. They are called endospores. And the microbe that created the spore is called sporangia. Some bacteria can also form exospores and cysts. In these cases, the microorganism itself is covered with a protective coating. It is known that in a dispute the metabolism is suspended, and in terms of chemical composition it is different from the bacterium itself (there is practically no water in it).

How to get rid?

The modern scientific knowledge that bacteria spores serve for better preservation of these microorganisms are taken into account in medicine and medical practice to improve the sterilization of instruments during operations. Disputes that form pathogens of infections, can also get, for example, into the wound and cause infection. Therefore, to achieve sterility, it is necessary to get rid not only of the bacteria themselves, but also of the spores. This is done with the help of special autoclaves, where high pressure and temperature are maintained.
