Sci-Fi and Reality

For a long time passed the glorious, unforgettable times of Jules Verne, Herbert Wells, Alexei Tolstoy and many other science fiction writers of the past days, when writers were the creators of new scientific ideas and assumptions.
A laser was created, a man visited the moon, amazing computers were created - computers. True, they did not acquire the dimensions of a whole planet, as some science fiction writers had suggested in their works. On the contrary, their sizes have decreased so much that computers are placed on our palm.
Then came the time when, it would seem, the ideas of the science fictionists were exhausted. For a long time already there is no science fiction writer in modern literature, whose foresight of the future could be so coincident with that which Jules Verne foresaw. You will ask why? The answer to this question is not easy. At the dawn of technological progress, at the beginning of the twentieth century, and especially in the nineteenth, all, or almost all, scientific discoveries and achievements were quite understandable to the average man in the street. The invention of a telephone, a locomotive, and then an internal combustion engine ... The first flight of a man in a hot air balloon. Then the first airplanes, steam locomotives, motor ships and cars appeared. Invented electricity.

All these were large discoveries and inventions of great significance for the development of civilization. All these achievements of the science of that time were new, but understandable to the person who lived at the time. Including the science fiction writers, who are beginning to actively use the achievements of technological progress in their fantastic works. And, I must say, their books were very popular among the general population. The heroes of Jules Verne built huge electric motors, submarines, and even flew to the moon. And remember the hyperboloid of Engineer Garin?

Have you noticed that almost none of the terms invented by science fiction writers caught on in life when a similar subject appeared? Only Karela Capek was lucky. The term "robot" invented by him firmly established in all world languages. Now robots are millions, and they are everywhere. No more luck in any terms. There are no blasters, no flyers, no gravitators. Even holography, so popular in the fantastic works of past decades, has not become popular and widespread in our daily lives. It exists, but exists only as holographic stickers. And instead of holographic programs, we look at conventional plasma TVs. The word "flyer" is used, but also not at all in the meaning of the aircraft. Just as an advertisement or an invitation to a party. And that's all!

And then in general amazing things began to happen. Science, and accordingly, both scientific research and discoveries began to become more complicated. Now an ordinary person does not understand what the scientists invented there. Now scientists themselves have turned into science fiction writers. Yes Yes. Exactly. At first they think about the solution of the next task, then they make an amazing discovery, which is fully understood only by scientists like them. Most of the modern discoveries have turned for the common people into the Chinese language. It seems that everything is clear, but in fact nothing is clear. Therefore, scientists themselves come up with names for their inventions. Themselves turned into science fiction writers. They took upon themselves the work of writers. Flash drives, gadgets, the Internet, browsers and much more were invented not by science fiction writers, but by scientists. It's those people who invented all this, and created, and to whom as not to the creator give the name?

Modern science fiction writer, in order to use modern achievements of science in his works, it is necessary to be a deeply educated person. But even if he understands the essence of another discovery in the field of nano- or microtechnology and intelligently displays this in his work, it is not yet a fact that the work will be understood by the ordinary reader.

Science in its development has gone so far ahead that ordinary inhabitants can only enjoy its fruits. The same gadgets, and do not clog your head by how they work. Work, well, okay! Take the tablets, touch screens. It is doubtful that an ordinary person will intelligently answer you to the question on what principles all these gadgets work. Have learned to press the buttons, and enough.

The science fiction writers had no choice but to turn into ordinary storytellers. Again they write about princesses, vampires, galactic kingdoms, evil and kind magicians. Write about what they understand and understand the readers. Science fiction is the lot of scientists. They come up, they implement. It can be safely said that there are simply no science fiction works. Science in its development has gone ahead much further than most of us can understand.

Remained, as already mentioned above, tales of princesses, vampires and kingdoms. Such is the fantasy and reality. But if you still want to read new interesting and fantastic works, as close to reality as possible, my advice to you is to pay attention to the novels "Alien Consciousness" and "The Invisible Threat". There are no galactic kingdoms, no fights on swords, but there is our valiant special forces, AK 47 and strangers invading us from other worlds!
