A scaly sugary is different from other insects in that it does not, and most importantly, never had wings. That is why it belongs to the group of primary lesions. This insect lives in damp and warm rooms. The sugar scaly is protected from drying by the presence of dense scales and can also live in dry corners where there is mold. Especially she is afraid of dryness during moulting, when her body loses natural protection.

Sugar scales can grow up to 8-12 mm, it moves fairly quickly and has a silvery color. This insect leads a nocturnal lifestyle and always tries to hide when light appears. Scales are fed by any plant remains. They can eat paper, paste, which are glued wallpaper, mold and unicellular algae. They do not harm a person, but sometimes they can damage food, books, pictures.

A sugar scales lays eggs in damp places, where after a while new insects are derived from them, which are completely similar to adults. In the process of several lines they grow.

If you have rare paintings and books that you really treasure, then it is the sugar scales that can harm them. Fighting these insects is to keep the room clean and dry, and to hide or remove their natural food. Since scales are nocturnal insects, it is rather difficult to determine their places of residence.

Favorite places where the sugar scales are preferred to live and reproduce are cellars, a bathroom, a place under a sink or under a refrigerator, an attic, in general, any dark and damp place in your room. It is necessary to periodically check the indicated places and carry out their cleaning and drying. Such measures disrupt the habitual habitat of scales, and they themselves go to more suitable places.

If you still have these insects at home, then to get rid of them you will need a fan heater, a tool containing chlorine, copper sulfate, insecticidal sprays.

It is necessary to organize additional ventilation in places where there may be scales, and also they can be dried by means of a thermal fan. Adult insects will go away, and their larvae will die in a dry climate.

Sugar scales can exist only in warm places, where the air temperature is at least 21 degrees. Therefore, to destroy them, you can conduct a short-term cooling of the room, if weather conditions permit. To do this, it is necessary to ventilate the apartment well for several hours, thus both larvae and adult insects will be destroyed.

It is also necessary to clean the room thoroughly, remove all mold in it. To do this, it will be sufficient to wash these places with any chlorine-containing solution, and then cover them with a solution of copper sulfate, then dry it with a fan.

As a control against these insects, insecticidal aerosols can be used. With their help, the treatment of walls and floors is carried out, especially carefully to handle places with high humidity or those places where it is possible the appearance of insects. After the treatment of the premises by these means, it is necessary to air it after two to three hours.

Particular attention should be paid to books, they must be kept in a dry place and do not allow them to be moistened. It is desirable that in places where many books are stored, there was additional ventilation, and also it is necessary to periodically dry them. Do not place racks with books low above the floor and close to the wall. Scale sugar for a short time can cause irreparable harm to your library.
