One of the most prestigious military schools in Russia today is the Ryazan VDV school. In November 2018, the school will celebrate its centenary, initially it was formed as the Ryazan infantry courses. Throughout its existence, the school has produced several hundred thousand first-class military personnel who have defended and continue to defend the country for many years.

Ryazan School of the Airborne Forces and its history (1918-1947)

RVVDKU (former RIVDV) today bears the honorable name of General VF. Margelov, who invested a lot of energy in making this educational institution one of the best in the country. November 13, 1918 Ryazan Infantry School (that's how it was called then) opened its doors for the first students. Three years later the institution became the owner of the VTsIK award for the courage and courage of its wards.

In August 1941, it was decided to form a military parachute school on the basis of an existing educational institution evacuated to Kuibyshev. The school was engaged in the training of military personnel for the airborne troops, but few knew about this, the uninitiated took him for the usual military unit.

In the autumn of 1943, the school received an award - the Order of the Red Banner, which was awarded for the front-line success of officers trained by the school. In 1946-1947 the present-day Ssuz was in the city of Frunze (now Bishkek), after which he returned to his rightful place - in Ryazan.

History of the school: post-war years

In 1958, the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union decided to reorganize the existing educational institution in the Higher Combined Arms Command School. The term of study was increased to four years, and the diplomas that graduates received became equivalent to any document on higher education. The preparation of students remained at the highest level.

Commander of the Airborne Forces V.F. Margelov then took the initiative to unite the Ryazan and Alma-Ata schools. The country's leadership approved this proposal, and a year later, cadets from Alma-Ata appeared in Ryazan. Since then, the school has been constantly under the personal control and care of V.F. Margelova, thanks to this, it gained popularity and expanded its territory.

In the 1960s, the school began to actively learn foreign languages, and foreigners were also allowed to enter the educational institution. In 1968, the Ryazan Military Airborne School was re-awarded the Order of the Red Banner. In 1989, Polish military personnel were successfully trained in the educational institution, and the Polish People's Republic awarded the school "Commander Cross".

VDV School in Ryazan: Post-Soviet History

In 1996, the RVVDKU (formerly RIVDV) received the name, which is still used today. All the wishes of the staff and teachers of the school were taken into account, they wanted the institution to bear the name of General Vasily Margelov. In the late 1990s, the name was changed, but on July 9, 2004 it was finally returned to the school.

In 2006, the RF Minister of Defense awarded Vympel School with a high-quality training of military specialists. Two years later, the Ryazan Higher Military School of the Airborne Forces began receiving girls for active military specializations. In 2013, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the institution with the Order of Suvorov.

Cadets live in barracks-type dormitories, but are trained in educational buildings, laboratories, complexes, gyms. The school has its own shooting gallery, as well as a stadium with a sports city. Near the institution there is a combine of consumer services.

To enter the first specialty, you must pass the USE in Russian, Mathematics and Physics, and the second one in Russian, Mathematics and Social Studies. A passing score for each discipline is recommended to be specified in the school itself, since it can vary. The cost of annual training in both specialties has not changed since 2013. As of June 2015, it is 64 thousand rubles for full-time office and 28 thousand - for correspondence.

Educational process

The RVVDKU (Ryazan) differs from all other military schools in that the educational process is completely different here. The training is organized in such a way that all students receive not only theoretical but also practical skills, and often this occurs within the same class. There is practically no division into lecture and practical courses.

The duration of training is 5 years for cadets, and those who want to become officers will have to study a little longer - 5 years and 10 months. Students study 10 semesters, at the end of each of them it is necessary to take tests and examinations, it is similar to the examination session in civilian higher educational institutions.

Theoretical lessons include attending lectures, writing laboratory and test papers and attending out-of-class consultations. Practical work includes internships, group classes and exercises. From the second year all cadets should defend the coursework in accordance with the topics discussed in advance with the scientific adviser.

For all five years of training, cadets spend more than 12 months on field exits. Annually cadets go on a thirty-day vacation in summer and in a fourteen day in winter. Those cadets who graduated from the school with honors receive an advantage in choosing the place where they will serve, according to the existing order.

Who can become a cadet of the school?

Admission to the Ryazan Airborne School annually begins on July 1. Young people face serious health conditions. Students can become those who did not serve, if they are not yet 22 years old, as well as those who are now serving on call or on a contract basis (up to 25 years). Conditions of admission: physical training

The Ryazan Military Airborne School has a special status, and all its cadets must have excellent physical training. That's why the entrants are obliged to go through the check of the level of physical training, this applies to both boys and girls. If the applicant is going to get a higher professional education, he will have to hand in the pull-up, running and swimming (if the conditions permit).

If the applicant plans to get a secondary vocational education, the exercises are offered the same, but the enrollment rates in this case are slightly higher. Only one chance is given to perform a physical exercise, the results are entered in the competitive list together with data from the USE certificates. On their basis, a decision is made about enrollment.

Admission to the Ryazan VDV school requires a good physical form from the applicant, so it is best to start preparing in advance. The availability of diplomas, certificates, as well as awards in the field of sports disciplines is welcomed, but priority in admission does not.

Educational-methodical work

The Ryazan Airborne Training College is famous for its teachers, all of them have huge work experience, about 150 of them were participants of military operations in Afghanistan, South Ossetia, and the North Caucasus. Due to this, all students receive the most necessary skills for further military service. Among other things, teachers constantly conduct methodological work with their students, aimed at improving the quality of teaching.

Beginning teachers can also get the skills necessary to work with cadets, specifically for them the "School of Teacher Skills" is opened, the term of study is two years. Periodically, the school organizes methodical experiments, as a result of which the newest methods of teaching in military educational institutions are being developed.
