Rectification column by one's own hands: device and technique of construction

The rectification column is a special apparatus that is designed to separate liquids having an excellent boiling point. In general, such devices are used in industry, however, sometimes a distillation column is made for own use for own domestic use.

Basically the design is used in the process of brewing. The principle of its work is to separate pure alcohol or moonshine from the original liquid. This is the case: the raw material is poured into the column tank and is heated to a certain temperature. During the boiling of the liquid, steam is released which settles at the top of the device, condenses and collects in an additional vessel, and unused liquid returns to the tank.

Naturally, in order for the rectification column to turn out to be qualitative, it is necessary to choose the right material for manufacturing. If all the elements are carefully selected, and the design of the device is made without errors, the result should be pure alcohol, which does not have impurities, odor and foam. Therefore, the manufacture of the device, its device and the scheme should be given increased attention.

The rectifying column is made by the hands in accordance with the scheme. Moreover, it has much smaller dimensions than an industrial device, which can have a height of more than 20 meters. Also, adapters will be needed that will connect the pipe to the tanks, a heater for the packing part of the device, a sheet of stainless steel for the production of support washers, a small tube used as a drain for water and a refrigerator. It should also be noted that steel should be safe for health, that is, it could be used in the food industry.

From the tools you will need a hammer, an electric drill with drills, pliers, files, sandpaper, a soldering iron with solder or flux, adapters for cranes, rubber tubes of small diameter and a thermometer.

Homemade distillation column is manufactured by a certain technology. The pipe should have the necessary length, and its edges should be torn off. A special adapter is used to connect the pipe and the distillate unit. The connection of the pipe and cube must be sealed, and the place of soldering subsequently requires stripping. Next, you need to make steel nozzles, which are poured into the pipe to the very top.

Now the support washer is inserted into the pipe, into which the narrow end of the selection is inserted. The junction is also soldered. The next step is the thermal insulation of the pipe.

The thermos to be used as a reflux condenser, you need to disassemble and remove the bottom. The inner flask should be pulled out from the outside, and remove the vacuum cap of the thermos bottle. In the flask it is necessary to make a hole in the center of the bottom of the element and in the central part of its rear side. In the upper hole, you need to insert the pipe and weld it there. Then the bottom is put on the flask. In the outer flask, holes are also made for the discharge and water supply pipes. They are located at the top and bottom of the bulb. The joints must be sealed. In the distillate extraction unit, it is necessary to make a hole for the thermometer bushing.

The rectification column with its own hands is made with careful observance of safety rules. Naturally, during work protective gloves, clothes, a mask and a respirator are used. After the device is manufactured, all soldering points should be rinsed with a solution of water and soda and rinsed with running water.
