International Women's Day on March 8 is a holiday of spring. Traditions, history and features of the celebration on March 8

Now the celebration of such a wonderful holiday as March 8 is, for the most part, familiar and does not bring any surprise. However, if we recall the history of the International Women's Day, most modern women should rejoice in it in a special way. After all, few people remember how hard it was to fight for many of the rights that we now have. But once women could not afford and thought about something for themselves more. In those days, they had neither the right to vote, nor to work in public institutions. Let's remember everything and understand, and what is the meaning of the holiday on March 8?

Gender differences

A woman is a fragile by nature creation, called to support her man, to continue the human race, to keep a family hearth and educate children. Of course, from the primitive times the position of the ladies in society has changed significantly. The modern woman works on a par with the man, moreover in all spheres: heavy and light industry, science and business, politics and culture. And many of them are very prosperous in this field. However, in order to achieve the present situation, women had to go through many things. So let us plunge into the past (when the International Women's Day has not yet been announced) from the very beginning to our days and find out how the holiday arose and how it is celebrated in different countries.

The suffering of women in society

For many tens and even hundreds of years, the beautiful half of humanity was oppressed and degraded both physically and morally. Thus, almost a third of women were subjected to violence from their partners or criminals: beatings, sexual harassment and other ill-treatment. Also, more than 130 million girls have been through such a disgusting procedure as female circumcision, during which they removed the external genitalia. And only recently these unfortunates have been given the opportunity of liberation from this. An uncountable number of women and girls are sold into slavery, including sexual, are married in early childhood - up to 8 years. If we talk about the labor and political sphere, the struggle for rights is still going on, since the average salary of women is still less than that of men, and they occupy less than a third of managerial posts. In Muslim countries for women there are many prohibitions, which are explained by religious canons. Thus, gender differences exist from ancient times to our days, so it is not surprising that women are so actively fighting for rights on a par with a strong gender.

Origins

If we talk about the appearance of the International Women's Day, we must start the conversation from the dawn of the human era. For a long time it was believed that a man is an earner, he is the head of the family, and therefore he must make all decisions, be responsible for his wife and children.

However, over time, this situation ceased to suit women, and they began to actively fight for their rights in all areas of activity. It is believed that the International Women's Day began on March 8, 1957, when the so-called "March of empty pots" was held along the central streets of New York. Conducted by him textile workers, workers of local garment factories, because of disagreement with the conditions of their work. They wanted to attract attention, fight for their rights in the sphere of work and achieve their demands: namely, to improve the quality of conditions and increase wages. In this International Women's Day had a political background. After all, women were not only rushing to production, they wanted to have the right to vote and their representatives in state institutions and the government. And they achieve this with hard work, albeit gradually. And they can already boast that thanks to their efforts, a bright and joyful International Women's Day appeared (the holiday story, although not so happy).

Holiday Symbols

Despite the fact that there were many other protest actions of women, the holiday was officially approved and registered by the UN decision only in 1975. However, for millions of beautiful creatures, this is March 8, the International Women's Day, became their huge victory, and therefore even separated by the oceans And thousands of kilometers of land, ethnic, cultural and political disagreements, they now have a legitimate opportunity to celebrate this delightful day. The holiday became the embodiment of justice, equality and courage. And also all those qualities that each woman is endowed with - kindness, tenderness and love. Now this holiday is truly international, and in many countries it is also declared national. And all this is the merit of those brave women who were not afraid to fight for their rights.

The modern festival

In modern society this holiday is, perhaps, one of the warmest. On this day in many countries of the world, women dress up in their best dresses, invent amazing hair, impose a spectacular make-up. Husbands bring coffee to bed and organize dinner in the restaurant, the lovers give fragrant flowers and delicious sweets, and the sons visit their mothers and spend the day with them. It is worth acknowledging that the International Women's Day is, first of all, the day of attention to all women. Therefore, they simply shine with happiness, congratulate each other, boast of gifts. After all, this also includes small female joys.

From the city institutions

It should be noted that, nevertheless, in most cases, states are actively encouraging the holding of such a wonderful holiday. Therefore, congratulations on the International Women's Day are also on their part, manifested in large-scale street decorations, beautiful illumination, a lot of concerts and performances. In addition, in theaters and cinemas discounts are announced, and in clothing stores and even household appliances - various stocks, and therefore there is a kind of commercial boom. But in the sphere of restaurant business and flower sale, the trend is reversed, it's no secret that the prices for fragrant buds for your favorite ladies and a romantic dinner in a wonderful place on this day is costly for men, but what can not you do to smile on the faces of beautiful ladies. ..

Festivities

Activities for the International Women's Day are actively encouraged by the population, especially the young. Since the main number of concerts is held on the main streets of the cities, a large mass of people is accumulated there. People walk, listen to songs and sing along, eat different goodies in local cafes, take pictures, go to parks and entertainment. And in educational institutions and various organizations, the last working day before the holiday is also held with the congratulation of ladies of any age. So, schools and universities decorate inside and outside, arrange concerts with musical and dance numbers. And men, boys and boys collectively give their companions gifts, read poems and prose greetings and pay attention all day. However, this is the case in most European countries and in the post-Soviet space, but how do celebrate the International Women's Day holiday in individual countries?

In Armenia

As we know, in such countries as Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, March 8 is marked by a red number in the calendar, which means that the whole population has a guaranteed day off on that day, and on average, about three. Only Armenia can boast before them, where the celebration of the International Women's Day turned into a "month", which lasts from March 8 to April 7. However, it got to them after a hard struggle with gender differences. That's how it was. The fact is that when Armenia was still part of the USSR, the holiday lasted one day and was state, but after the collapse of the Union, the new government abolished the 8th of March and instead declared April 7 the Day of Beauty and Motherhood. Women resisted the changes and achieved the restoration of the previous date, and now the Armenian women are celebrated for a whole month! And this is the best manifestation of justice.

In Turkmenistan, Lithuania, Poland and France

This wonderful holiday was canceled in many other countries after the collapse of the Union. For example, in Turkmenistan it was combined with Navruz, turning it into a general concept of spring and joy, but women nevertheless achieved its return, and even repeated holding in the year. In Lithuania, it was also excluded, it was restored in the list of state holidays, but now it is still marked by demonstrations, concerts and other events. In Poland, the celebration of the International Women's Day was declared a relic of the socialist system and was banned for holding. However, traditions, fortunately, are preserved, and the ladies still receive their long-awaited special attention from the male. But in France, on the contrary, even though there is a holiday in the calendar, however, it is celebrated only in communist families, however sad it may be.

In Italy and other places

In the countries closest to the border with Asia, March 8, International Women's Day, is still not so loud and bright, on the contrary, it is rather reserved. And now they only have Mother's Day, and therefore, alas, only parents and pregnant women receive congratulations. But in Italy, March 8 passes radically differently. So, if in Russia men give attention and flowers to their women and spend time with them, then in this country the ladies are isolated and celebrated within the circle exclusively without partners. The symbol of the holiday at them is considered a twig of mimosa as the first gift of spring.

In Asian countries

In Vietnam, the history of the International Women's Day is also not simple, but it was later combined with another important day for the state - the memory of Ching's sisters, who bravely led the struggle against the Chinese invaders more than 2,000 years ago. Therefore, in this country, in addition to congratulations on the part of men, the presentation of state. Awards from ruling organizations. But in China this day is rather belittled, because it is considered that this is a holiday of exclusively married women. However, the students-boys still honor the traditions of the celebration on March 8 and from the very morning gather under the windows of the hostels of their girls with posters and colorful balloons, publicly shouting declarations of love, gather together on the playgrounds for folk festivities.

Homemade Holiday

Of course, on this wonderful day, all men try to surprise and please their women as much as possible. This is manifested, first of all, in the search for interesting ideas for this event. Most, of course, are limited to standard, but still extremely pleasant things, namely, wake your loved ones with a kiss, bring to bed breakfast and fragrant beautiful flowers. Then a home celebration is held, guests are invited, a wonderful table with a sweet is laid. And already towards evening, while ladies guide the marathon, men wear ironed suits with a shirt and even a tie, lead their only ones to dinner in the restaurant, give there long-awaited gifts.

Ideas for a holiday

Those men who can afford enough money to give their lady special attention, of course, arrange real demonstration performances. So, they give their loved ones jewelry, fur products, cars and expensive cell phones, place congratulations on the city's billboards, prepare corporate parties. If the income is small, then men are more creative. So, for example, young guys can put together a real flash mob for their girls or cover a romantic dinner at home, as expected, with flowers, candles, where they can boast of their culinary skills and give their only rest. But men can safely give their partners various gift certificates, coupons or discount cards in beauty salons, shops of shoes and clothes, perfumes, SPA, massages and other female pleasures. Fortunately, commercial organizations are actively trying to facilitate the idea of men issuing such shares.
