How to connect the LED strip in the car?

Recently, light elements, in particular tapes, are very often used in tuning cars. They are used to illuminate the discs, the bottom, the interior of the vehicle. About how to connect the LED tape in the car, well know the employees of the auto-technical center, but if you decide to act independently, you should familiarize yourself with the following useful information. I want to note right away that an important plus of tapes with LEDs is that they are prepared as much as possible in order to install them independently. In addition, they not only look impressive, but also are economical, very durable (they work about 5 thousand hours) and are made of waterproof material.

Step 1. How to connect the LED strip: select the mounting location and length of the tape

First of all, decide on the type of your car you want to install LED lighting. After that you will have to determine the length of the tape that you need. Remember that such an article can be cut only at multiple intervals (for example, the tape SMD 3528 Q60 is cut every five centimeters). When calculating the length, this must be taken into account. Also, you should know that the width of ribbons with LEDs does not exceed two centimeters with a thickness of two millimeters, and the standard length of the tape in a reel is five meters.

Step 2. How to connect the LED strip: which tape to choose

From what place for the installation you have chosen, depends also on which tape you need to purchase. So, to illuminate the bottom, LED stripes are used from waterproof material, which are coated with a transparent coating of silicone. Such a tape can be chosen as one-color or multi-colored, on which three-color LEDs are installed. The latter option is very popular, because due to the mixing of these three colors the tape is able to radiate any shade and color.

For illumination under the hood, you will need a LED strip with heat shrinkage. And in order to highlight the bottom of the front seats in your car, you will need a ribbon with LEDs on a self-adhesive basis. In general, LED ribbons, due to their length and flexibility, can be attached to where your imagination will allow.

Step 3. How to connect the LED strip: select the power supply

Proceeding from the fact that the LED strips come in different voltage (5, 12 or 24 V), you need to purchase the appropriate power ribbon power supply. For this, it is best to seek professional advice in order to minimize the risk of a failed purchase.

Step 4. How to connect the LED strip: we are installing and connecting the tape

When you have purchased all the necessary goods, you have to prepare the selected surface for the installation of the LED strip. The place for installation should be thoroughly degreased (for example, with alcohol). In general, it is best if the selected surface turns out to be integral, which will help to avoid damage to the ribbon printed circuit board. In the event that you have to be mounted on a metal surface or any other conductive, isolate the tape.

If the ribbon does not need cutting, then immediately proceed with its installation. With the help of an adhesive layer that is available on the back of the LED strip, this is very easy to do. After removing the protective coating, press the tape against the surface.

Now you need to connect the ribbon to the controller and the power supply. This is done with the help of postings on the tape. Each wire has its own designation (G, B, V +, R) on the conductor track. We connect (in accordance with the polarity) to the four inputs available on the controller with the same notation (G, B, V +, R).

Now connect the power supply to the network (220V) using two wires to the connectors N- and L +. We connect "plus" on the block to "plus" on the controller and "minus", respectively, to "minus". The polarity of the voltage can not be confused in any way, as this can lead to damage to the tape and equipment failure.

Now you have learned how to connect the LED strip in the car. And if you take into account the fact that today the purchase of such goods on a pocket to almost every owner of the car, then safely go to the nearest point of sale of car goods or open a page of the corresponding online store.

And good luck on the roads!
