History of the development of basketball in the world

A basketball sports game was born in the United States of America. It was invented in 1891 in the city of Springfield, Massachusetts, in the training center of the Christian Youth Association. Young teacher James Naismith, a native of Canada, in order to revive the lessons in gymnastics, came up with a completely new game. He took two baskets for fruit without a bottom and attached them to the balustrade of the balcony. In the basket you had to throw a soccer ball. Hence the name takes this game: ball - ball, basket - basket.

From this moment the history of the development of basketball began. A year later, Naismith proposed rules on which the game of basketball was to be held. These rules contained 13 points. However, the first matches showed that the rules need to be modified and modified. There were many things that prevented the further development of the game. For example, the fans on the balconies could catch a flying ball and try to throw it into the opponent's basket. Therefore, the baskets were closed with shields. And in 1893 appeared a grid, hung on an iron ring. And yet the history of the creation of basketball led to the fact that in the United States in 1894 the first official rules were approved, and the game itself was so dynamic and interesting that the whole world is now playing it.

From the United States, basketball penetrated first into the eastern countries - China, Japan and the Philippines, and after them to South America and Europe. After 10 years in St. Louis during the Olympic Games, athletes from the United States with the help of teams from several cities organized a demonstration tournament. Later on, at the Olympic Games until 1928, basketball was also only indicative. Then the history of the development of basketball continued with the support of its national federations, which were created in different countries, and primarily in the United States. It is the national federations that start organizing international tournaments. Back in 1919, the first international basketball tournament took place between army teams from the United States, France and Italy.

Since 1923, the history of the development of women's basketball begins. This year the first international women's tournament was held, in which teams from the USA, England and Italy participated. As the game began to gain increasing recognition and popularity in the world, in 1932 the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) was formed. Its first membership included only 8 countries - Argentina, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Sweden, Latvia, Czechoslovakia, Romania. And in 1935 the International Olympic Committee recognized basketball as an Olympic sport, and the next year in Berlin, this game was included in the program of the Olympic Games. The honored guest of the Olympic basketball tournament was his creator, James Naismith. In this tournament teams from 21 countries took part.

Matches of the tournament were held on the open tennis courts. During the Olympics, the first FIBA Congress was held, at which the first international rules of the game were approved. In the future, the history of the development of basketball again drew attention to the importance of rules. Since in the early 50-ies the game began to lose such an interesting sharpness of the fight, the rules had to introduce a number of important changes to make the game more active.

The history of basketball in Russia begins in 1906, when in St. Petersburg gymnasts of the sports society "Mayak" created the first teams for playing basketball. And almost before the 1917 revolution, this game was cultivated only in St. Petersburg. Broad development in Russia, basketball was only in the early 20-ies, and the first major tournament is considered to be held in 1923, the championship of the country. In the same year, the first official rules were approved.

Sports experts believe that in the sports future, undoubted priority will be given to dynamic, complex and beautiful games. Undoubtedly, such games include basketball, where the main thing is unpredictability, effectiveness and entertainment.
