'Galstena' preparation: instructions for use, indications and contraindications

The liver is one of the most important organs of our body. It is a filter that detains various harmful substances coming to us with food or alcohol. Therefore, any liver disease - such, for example, as hepatitis, creates a lot of problems for our body. One of the drugs that are used in the treatment of diseases of the liver and biliary tract, is the drug "Galstena", the instruction for the application of which is discussed in this article.

Composition and principle of action

The drug "Galstena" refers to complex homeopathic remedies. It is made on the basis of plants (milk thistle, dandelion, celandine large), to which add natural sodium sulfate, natural ferric phosphate and ethyl alcohol. The medicine is given in the form of drops or tablets, which must be placed under the tongue.

The drug has hepatoprotective, cholekinetic and choleretic properties. It acts on the liver and biliary tract as an antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory agent.

Indication and method of application

The drug "Galstena" instructions for use recommends the use of cirrhosis, hepatosis, chronic pancreatitis, acute and chronic hepatitis, dyskinesia biliary tract, chronic (subacute) cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, postcholecystectomy syndrome.

Tablets "Galsten" is recommended to use for half an hour before meals or an hour after it. They need to be kept in your mouth until they completely dissolve. You can give "Galsten" tablets to children under 5 years old by dissolving them in water (one tablespoon is enough). The duration of taking the drug - both tablets and drops - depends on the disease and should be determined by the doctor. As for the periodicity, the Galsten tablets are recommended for use in the following doses: children under 12 years old enough to take half the tablets three times a day, adults and adolescents can be given 1 tablet three times a day.

The drops of "Galsten" are also taken half an hour before meals or an hour after it. Before you swallow the drops, they need to be held in your mouth. For babies they can be dissolved in water - in the same proportion as for tablets. For adolescents and adults, the frequency of admission is 10 drops three times a day, for children under 12 years, from 5 to 7 drops. Children under the age of 1 year are recommended to give no more than 1 drop three times a day. Droplets are produced in dark glass bottles equipped with a dispenser. The solution has a yellowish tint and a specific odor.

Contraindications and side effects

To the contraindications of the drug "Galstena" instructions for use include increased sensitivity to its components. During pregnancy and breast-feeding, this medication should only be used as directed by the doctor. It is strictly forbidden to give drops to people suffering from alcoholism - because of the content of ethyl alcohol. The interaction of the drug with other drugs has not yet been established. It is recommended that in parallel treatment with other medications, take a break of at least 20 minutes between taking medication.

Of the side effects when taking the drug "Galstena" reviews and instructions called increased salivation, which occurs when taking drops. When taking the tablets, no side effects were recorded. It is also unknown about cases of overdoses. In general, the patients' opinions on the effectiveness of the drug are contradictory: some describe a significant improvement, while others, on the contrary, do not see any effect of taking.

With regard to storage conditions, the product should be stored only using the original packaging, at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C, in a place protected from light. Due to the presence of natural and vegetable components, the solution may change the taste and color over time, become turbid, but its effectiveness does not affect it in any way. Shelf life is three years.
