Biography of the Czech hockey player

Martin was born August 28, 1981 in the city of Trebic, in Czechoslovakia. As a child, he was a very active and energetic boy. His older brother played hockey, and Martin decided to follow in the footsteps of his brother. Thus, Eras Jr., with the full support of his parents, began to study in the local section. Trainers of children's and youth teams very often praised the young talent for his speed and technique.

Professional club career of the player began in 1998, when Martin made his debut for the Czech "Zlín". Although he appeared at the rink only 4 times, coaches of other more famous clubs were interested in him.

Long-awaited invitation

In 1999 Martin's childhood dream came true. In the seventh round of the draft he was chosen by the NHL Nashville Predators club. But before the debut in his new team, Erat Martin spent two seasons in the youth teams "Saskatoon Blades" and "RD Rebels" and during this time played 147 matches in which he threw 59 goals and gave 104 assists.

Debut in the NHL in the "Predators" was held in 2001. That season was successful for Martin. Over 80 matches he managed to score 33 points on the famous hockey system. In the following season, the talented striker played only half the championship for Predators, after which he was sent to the Milwaukee Edmiles farm club. In the season 03/04, after returning to the NHL, Eras Martin again showed an excellent game - in 82 games he scored 16 goals and gave 34 assists.

Many fans of the NHL know that in 2004 the lockout began, so Martin for a whole season had to return to his native team "Zlín". The next seven and a half seasons, Martin consistently played for Predators, being the main player of the team. For this period he managed to take part in 571 match, in which the hockey player scored 409 points.

In 2013, Eras Martin moves to the club from the capital of the United States, "Washington Capitals." After a total of 66 matches for the new club and 27 points (goal + pass), he becomes a part of the deal between "VK" and "Phoenix Coyotes" in 2014. In the Arizona club, he managed to again show an excellent game - in 96 games scored 37 points.

In season 15/16, Martin radically changes the geography of his career and moves to the club of the KHL "Avangard". And now he continues to show high-quality hockey in the Russian club.

National team appearances

The debut for the Czech national team took place in 1999 at the junior world championship. Martin's team took 5th place, and the hockey player himself gave six assists in 6 games. Next was the winning world championship in the youth team of 2001.

The Olympics in Sochi in 2014, most likely, was the last in the career of a Czech hockey player. He went to these competitions with mixed feelings. On the one hand, the joy and pride for the trust of the coaches of the Czech national team, and on the other - the experience for the wife, who was about to give birth to a child. But, fortunately, everything went well, and now in the family of Martin Erat a gorgeous baby grows.
