"Defective detective": actors and roles

The comedy series "Detective Monk" with Tony Shalub in the title role was so highly popular that the producers have extended its production for as many as 8 seasons. The project was shot according to the screenwriter Andy Brackman's script. Each episode has its own name, invariably beginning with the words "Mr. Monk".

Description

In Russia, the series was broadcast from the last summer month of 2013 by the channel "TV Center" under the adapted name "Defective detective". Actors of the first plan: T. Shalub, D. Gray-Stanford, T. Levine, T. Howard - did not leave the project for all eight seasons, unlike the stage masters performing episodic and secondary roles.

According to the idea of the creators, all the plot action of the project unfolds exclusively in San Francisco, but the geography of the filming is more extensive: Vancouver, Toronto, Los Angeles. Actors and roles of the series "Defective detective" are selected in a corresponding way, which is not surprising, because the casting of actors took place under the vigilant control of the producers of the project.

Plot

Each series of the television series "Defective detective" actors involved in the work on the project, told the viewer a separate story - the investigation of a crime. The common and unchanging element that was present in every episode was the main character - Adrian Monk (Tony Shalub). He worked in one of the police stations in San Francisco and was known as a great detective. But his life was radically changed by the tragic death of his wife. His wife died as a result of a detonation of a bomb destined for Monk. The tragedy seriously affected the psychological state of the detective, as a result of a nervous breakdown, he threw all his affairs, ceasing to contact with the surrounding world. The only person who was admitted to the main character in a period of despair was the nurse Sharon (actress Beattie Shram). Thanks to her sensitivity and care, the detective managed to return to her former life and work, but Monk had about three hundred different phobias: fear of heights, dirt, touch, fire, crowds, dogs and cats, darkness, etc.

All described events are told during the initial episodes of the first season of "Defective Detective". Actors from the crew of the project call them a prologue.

Phobias are not a hindrance

Despite the state of the detective, the police department now and then resorts to the help of Adrian in the investigation of dead end cases, because the main character from childhood notices all the minor details. This unique ability is appreciated by his colleagues and hated by enemies. According to actor Tony Shaluba, who does not have serious phobias, after participating in a television movie, he does not cease to think about the most common things with concern. Now he regularly washes his hands like his character.

The repeated winner of Emmy and Golden Globe awards is known to a wide audience on the series Wings, in which he played Antonio Scarpazzi and, of course, in the image of detective Monk, suffering from compulsive obsessive disorders, in the television movie Defective Detective. Actors-colleagues on the shop noted the irrepressible energy and sparkling positive Tony. And film critics expressed their benevolence, honoring the actor with three Emmy Awards, Golden Globe and the Screen Actors Guild of the United States.
