Necessary materials

So, what is necessary to build a dog bed for yourself? First of all, you should choose a dense natural fabric. Coloring can be in harmony with the interior of the apartment or be matched to the color of the pet. In shops it is easy to find a suitable fabric with a thematic pattern - with a print in the form of paws or images of animals. The main thing is that the canvas is dense enough and does not fray from active use. You will also need foam rubber with a thickness of about 3.5 cm. A sewing machine, a thick needle, a strong thread, a centimeter, scissors - all this is useful in making dog beds for dogs with their own hands.

Dimensions of the berth

In order to determine the size of the bed, it is necessary to measure the dog when it lies on its side with outstretched hind legs. If your pet is still a puppy, then consider the average size of the adult specimen, if you do not want to alter the sleeping place as the dog grows. Beds for small dogs are preferable to make a round or oval shape, so they look best. For dogs of large breeds, rectangular, in the form of a sofa, is recommended. Place your child's sleeping place in a cozy cot, away from drafts, so that the animal is comfortable. To prevent scratches on the wall on the sides of the animal couch, you can make small skirts.

The sewing process

Before proceeding directly to sewing, it is necessary to cut out of foam rubber a pattern of a pillow of the correct size. Similarly, we cut the fabric to get two canvases that correspond to the size of the foam rubber. Sew the canvases from three sides and turn out the front part. Fill the cover with foam rubber and gently sew on the fourth side. As a filler, besides foam rubber, you can use another soft material, the main thing is that it is harmless. For the side of the couch we cut out a rectangle from the fabric so that its length corresponds to the length of the future edge, and the width is equal to the width of the edge, multiplied by two. Do not forget to make allowances on each side for 2-3 centimeters. Border sew on three sides, turn the face out and fill it with foam rubber. Then we sew the fourth side and carefully attach it to the main pillow. Depending on what kind of final look for dog beds you yourself conceived, the rim can cover one side or be virtually all around the perimeter, except for the entrance area. If desired, the stove can be decorated with various ribbons, braid, appliqués. Such decorative elements will emphasize the care of the owner about the pet and pleasing the eye.
