Bass guitar and the basics of playing it

Bass guitar is a tool with bass strings and low sound. Its structure is an octave lower than that of ordinary guitars. Basically, the performers play the bass with their fingers, the most common technique of the game is slap, but the game with the use of a mediator is also very popular. This tool is used in many musical styles, but very rarely - as a solo instrument. Nowadays, the bass guitar has become one of the most fashionable and accessible bass instruments.

Bass guitar is a subset of an electric guitar, but with a heavier body and an elongated neck. These are the main species characteristics, which also affect the sound. Bass guitar is one of the most important parts of it. It can be of several types: through, screwed and pasted. Through: this neck was invented by Rickenbacke in the 1950s. Typically, this neck is made of several pieces of wood of different breeds. As a rule, it looks very stylish and has sufficient strength. Screwed bar: on it screws are located on the plate. Pros of this type: expressiveness, laconism and clarity of sound. Such vultures are most often made of maple. The pasted neck, its second name is built-in. Very often such vultures are found in guitars produced by Gibson. An acceptable version of the length of the scale (neck) is 34 inches. To date, this figure is the production standard. But nevertheless there are vultures whose sizes deviate from the generally accepted standards: 30, 32,35,36 inches.

There is such a kind of bass, in which there are no frets, and only indicative markings are drawn. This bass guitar has a special sound, since the string has to be pressed directly to the tree of the neck, while the guitar produces sounds that strongly resemble the bass sound. Most often, a fretless bass is used to play jazz.

The bass is also distinguished by the thickness and number of strings, most often there are four-stringed and five-stringed guitars. There are also seven-string, eight-string, ten-string and even twelve-string instruments. Now the question arises: "How to play the bass guitar?"
There are many techniques that musicians use depending on the style of the music, the level of playing skill and personal preferences.

The main types of game are:

- Playing with the help of a mediator - using this type involves playing as on a normal guitar.

- Pull-off-the sound is played back from strong "jerking" of strings with the left hand.

- Racking - the game involves using only one finger.

- Slap- it is necessary to strike very sharply on the string (the blow is called "slap") and pick up the strings below.

- Tapping - the extraction of sound comes from striking the strings. You can play with one and two hands.

- Pizzicato - place your thumb on the pickup device or string, and use your index finger to extract sound.

- Slide - after you extracted the sound using the right hand, the left should go down and climb the neck, the string can not be released at the same time.
