"Business people" is a film shot by Leonid Gayday in 1962. It was the sixth director's work of the master of comedies. It is performed in the genre of the collection of short stories, which later fell in love with the director. How did the shooting take place and who played the main roles in it?

The creators of the picture

Scenario for the adventure film "Business People" Leonid Gayday wrote on the basis of three novels O. Henry. The name of the tape was borrowed from a collection of works by O. Henry in 1910 issue.

The first novel in the almanac was removed in the genre of tragedy that is unusual for Gaidai. But the two following are entirely related to the comedy genre.

Prominent actors were invited to the main roles. "Business people" is a tape in which R.Plyatt, Yu.Nikulin, G.Vitsin were shot.

Filming took place mainly in the Crimea: near the White Rock in the Belogorsky district, in the Nikitsky gorge, as well as in the village of Kuibyshevo.

The main cameraman is Konstantin Brovin. He also shot the main hits in Gaidai's filmography - "The Caucasian Captive" and "Operation Y".

The main artist of the picture was Vladimir Kaplunovsky, who worked on the "Trial of fidelity" and the comedy "Give a plaintive book."

A short story of the first novel

What do actors tell the viewer in the first story? "Business people" begin with a sketch called "The roads that we choose."

The action is transferred to the States of the heyday of the Wild West. Three desperate thugs plundered the postal express and tried to hide with the prey, but one of them was killed. Tidbol (Alexander Shvorin) and Dodson (Vladlen Paulus) successfully broke away from the chase, but at that moment a nuisance occurred: the horse of one of the bandits twisted his leg. Tidball, who lost his horse, offers a friend to immerse the remaining horse money, and to look for some other means of transportation. However, Dodson, without a long thought, shot his friend, saying: "Bolivar (meaning the horse) will not stand us both".

A minute later it turns out that Dodson actually slept and he dreamed it all. The protagonist is not a bandit, but an ordinary broker. To him comes his old friend Mr. Williams (Victor Gromov), who asks for a respite on loans. Otherwise, Williams will be ruined and dishonored. Dodson denies him, and a friend ends his life by suicide.

A short story of the second novel

In the second part of the film almanac no less hilarious story was played by other invited actors. "Business people" - a picture in which the novel "Roads ..." is replaced by a sketch "Family Souls".

According to the plot, a thief with a revolver penetrates into the rich mansion (Yuri Nikulin). On the second floor of the house he finds himself in the bed of a sleeping master (Rostislav Plyatt). The robber orders him to raise his hands. But from the fright of the owner of the mansion rheumatism is aggravated, so he was able to raise only one hand. While the thief and the owner of the house were sorting out the relationship, the robber also had an attack of rheumatism. And within a minute they discussed the best remedies for this disease.

This amusing incident ended in the fact that the thief invited at his own expense his own victim to drink in a pub.

A short story of the third novel

The novel "The Leader of the Redskins" takes us to the American state of Alabama. Again in front of the viewer are two fraudsters named Bill (Alexei Smirnov) and Sam (George Vitsin). In search of easy money, they kidnap the son of the local rich man, Mr. Dorset, and plan to demand $ 2,000 in redemption from him.

However, as soon as the two kidnappers were left alone with little Johnny, the situation changed dramatically. This Bill and Sam became hostage to a small monster. He seriously thought that they are playing with him in the Indians, and he is the leader of the Redskins. The child so tortured Sam and Bill that the criminals were willing to pay the old man Dorset, if only he took his son home. This is how this adventure of two kidnappers-losers ended.

Actors involved: "Business people" and the cast of the film

Many directors prefer to work with the same performers. From the very beginning of his creative activity Leonid Gaidai also had "favorites".

Firstly, the director is the creator of the legendary trio called "Coward, Balls and Experienced", whose participants were just two of his favorites - Yuri Nikulin and Georgy Vitsin. They also embodied in the movie "Business People" images of the hapless thief and kidnapper Sam.

Yuri Nikulin also starred in the films of Leonid Gaidai under the title "The Dog Barbos and the Unusual Cross", "The Shoemakers", "The Diamond Arm", "The Caucasian Captive", "12 Chairs". Georgiy Vitsin participated in almost the same projects (except for the "Diamond Arm"), plus Gaidai's comedy "The Groom from the Other World", "Can not Be", "For Matches".

Rostislav Plyatt, who played the role of the owner of the mansion from the second novel, is known for his roles in the films "The Battle of Stalingrad" and "The Bridegroom from the Other World." Vladlen Paulus, who played Shark Dodson, also starred in the films "Moscow does not believe in tears" and "The meeting place can not be changed."
