A rod for a fishing rod is a conscious necessity!

There are such adaptations, without which the modern fisherman can no longer be used (although earlier whole generations had somehow managed well). To them, of course, you can include coils for fishing rods. Long gone are the times when the folding float gear - sectional or sliding without much difference - mounted reel with a margin of fishing line made of wire or other improvised materials. Today it is no longer possible to find a rod that would not be equipped in a modern way. A coil for fishing rods has become an essential element of almost any fishing tackle. About what devices are most popular today, you will learn from our article.

Main functions

But in the beginning - about some features of the application. In principle, initially the coil for the fishing rod with the float began to be used as a storage for the fishing line. It was undoubtedly much more convenient to wind the line on it than to engage the protruding ears (who remember, they were still made of pieces of wire and were tied to the handle with an insulating tape). But progress went forward, and the reel for the fishing rod began to perform additional functions. Among them: fishing, working with a long line during the fishing (as this device allows the fisherman to quickly reduce / increase the length of the line). Also, the reel for the fishing rod was useful, and in the event of a breakage, in order to quickly fix the gears anew.

Which devices are used

At present, inertial and inertialess devices and their varieties are used for float gear. Let's take a closer look at each of the options.

Wet inertial

This kind of inertial adaptation is a rotating drum and an axial bushing. Also there is a special bracket (t-shaped) for fixing to the handle of the rod. The drum (spool) can be one-piece and two-disk. Diameters of drums vary - from 50 to 200 mm and more. When throwing tackles, the line is stretched and loosened from the drum, making it rotate. Coils of this type have a dull brake to fix the drum itself, and a friction brake to force the line to be removed from the device. Alternatively, a so-called "ratchet" is used - a simple device to prevent coiling. Similar coils are made, usually from light aluminum alloys.

  • Small coils (up to 120 mm) are used on float fishing rods for fishing in wiring from a boat or for large depths from the shore.
  • Coils with a larger size (up to 200 mm or more) are placed on tackle, intended for catching large predatory fish.
  • Small (50 mm) is used for catching a minnow, a small perch, crucian on stream or from a boat.

Multiplicative

This type of inertia-free coils is designed to ensure automatic laying of the line on the spool. Thus increase the speed with which the fishing line is wound. Such devices, as a rule, also have complementary bonuses: an automatic brake system, a backstop, a line counter, the possibility of changing the gear ratio.

Non-inertia

As a rule, they are used for match gear when catching predatory fish on bait, for example. They can be used wherever long casts are required and the winding of the forest is quite fast. For float gear set high-speed (1: 5.2 or 1: 6,2). The inertia-free devices consist of a spool that stands still, and the fishing line is wound off with rings. The winding is done with the help of a woodcutter in the form of a folding bow on the sleeve, which rotates.

In principle, the last option is the most progressive one. But before you collect a fishing rod with a coil, you still need to carefully choose from the above, according to the purposes and objectives of catching, and then your fishing will certainly be catchy!
