Work as an electrician: different facets of the same profession

The work of an electrician in the official language is rather boring. This is the name of specialists who are responsible for setting up electrical equipment at civil engineering, industry, shipbuilding, etc. The job description tells what the installer should be able to do, but there is not a word about the specifics of his work. And it depends entirely on the object and specialization of the worker.

The work of an electrician at an enterprise consists in servicing electrical wiring, maintaining electrical equipment, debugging and setting up electrical appliances. The work of the electrician on the objects under construction is quite different. High-voltage electricians conduct high-voltage power lines, pull wires to finished objects, among other specialists are responsible for accurate and uninterrupted operation of cable and air lines. Very often, after handing over one object, they are sent to another, which may be located at the other end of the country. There is one more category of these specialists. Usually they are required in large cities. So, the work of an electrician - in St. Petersburg, Rostov or another city - can imply that the duties will include the maintenance of city electric networks. This work is paid well, but requires special knowledge: it is impossible to learn on the job site. Today, the work of the electrician using the rotational method is very popular. These specialists earn more (especially on oil platforms), can spend a lot of time at home after the end of the watch. But to become a highly skilled worker, you will have to learn.

How to become an electrician?

Usually a profession can be obtained at a college or a lyceum. However, this is only the beginning, the base level. Work as an electrician implies continuous training throughout life. The technologies, the principles of the operation of devices, networks, and, consequently, the methods of work of the electrician are changing. Moreover, today new directions arise, which also can not do without electricians. What does this specialist have to know? He must understand the device of the devices to be serviced, know the physics, especially the part in which the basic laws of electricity are laid out. The electrician must understand the schemes, the features of the wiring, know the types of cables, pipes, wires, bends, etc.

The work of the electrician implies that the worker understands the compatibility of materials, the rules for their acquisition, knows how to work with precise schemes and independently create new ones. In addition, the installer must be very careful, cautious and methodical: violation of the procedure may lead to an accident. To become a high-class professional, this specialist must have strong health, good coordination of movements, developed spatial imagination. The same one who is going to work as a high-lift installer should not be afraid of heights, physically strong and hardy.
