The main story
Retired military Jim Backward, who works as a security guard, got into a difficult life's twist: against the backdrop of a serious illness of the wife, which requires expensive treatment, there is a collapse of his financial situation due to the flaws of the banking system. The situation is constantly heated, because Jim threatens to take the house for debts to the bank with which the court is going, the worsening state of his wife and the real threat to remain on the street lead the main character of the film "The Epoch of Greed" to the last state. The last straw is getting fired from work. And here comes the moment when he does not stand up: he takes the weapon and with the gun, pistols and grenades goes to put things in order on Wall Street. In principle, the plot is not new and not particularly original: a man brought to the system and life circumstances to despair, decides to cut the Gordian knot with one blow. The first half of the film looks like a domestic drama, telling about serious problems within the framework of one particular family. But the second part of the picture "The era of greed" - this is a thriller with elements of the action movie, with a growing and exciting storyline. In fact, this film about the ruthlessness and indifference of the system to the problems and troubles of a simple little person, the system will not suffer in any way from the fact that its tiny cog is broken. Capitalism in action is completely ruthless. A world in which only money matters, accounts and people who have them, is capitalism. We can say that the "Epoch of Greed" is a very relevant picture, as the world crisis left behind millions of ruined human lives. Billionaires lost millions, and ordinary people are the last.
Actor and director's breakthrough picture "The era of greed"
The whole plot and intrigue of the film are focused on the main character, played by the incredible Dominic Purcell. It must be said that, despite the somewhat inexpressive and "stone" facial expressions of this actor, in this picture he distinguished himself by an expression of feelings and emotions, which is not usual for him. The role of the average American who was not affected by the system, in whose soul a storm of indignation and determination, chaos and cold calculation raged, succeeded Purcell. Usually he plays steep macho, to create an image of which the main actor's tool is the game of biceps. It is safe to say that the "Epoch of Greed" is a clear breakthrough in the acting career of Dominic. For the director of the film Uwe Boll the film also became a landmark. Against the backdrop of his previous works, differing mainly in the bloody massacre with a hard-to-grasp meaning, the "Greed Epoch" of 2013 became a pleasant and intriguing exception. Perhaps such a fruitful creative union of creators and actors will be a convincing argument for the soon-to-be-emerged second part of the picture.
