Rare money of the USSR

Rare currency signs are of great interest not only to numismatists and collectors, but also to ordinary connoisseurs of things of the past, especially those of some value. Especially popular are coins and bills of the XVIII - XIX centuries. But recently it has become fashionable to collect Soviet money. Rare money of the USSR is a means that were issued in the Soviet Union from the 1920s to the 1970s.

The appearance of rare money

In the mid-20-ies in the Soviet state was developed a plan for the introduction of all-union money: both coins and notes. Experts offered a variety of options for the design of Soviet money, pursuing the goal of displaying on the banknotes the exclusivity and greatness of the USSR.

As a result of this fruitful work, huge circulations of banknotes and coins were issued, which were immediately launched to bypass. Among the numerous issues of currency there were also trial specimens. They are of particular value now.

As a rule, Soviet paper money is not valuable and rare. Therefore, interest in them is not great enough compared to coins.

Trial money of the USSR

Trial Soviet bills were issued as an addition to the officially approved currency. As a rule, information about such issues was not public. But, in spite of the secrecy, many such copies have survived to the present day. Paper Soviet rubles do not have much value. Coins are quite popular with collectors, since they were minted much less.

A vivid example can serve as the famous "polkopeyki", which went into circulation in 1925, as well as a bronze three-kopeck coin in 1924. They were almost immediately abandoned because of low profitability. A course was taken to make coins from base metal alloys. In the following decades, a quarter of 1955 became very rare.

The golden chervonets of 1925

If one can distinguish the most popular and rare coin from the set of rare money samples, then, of course, it is the Soviet chervonets made of pure gold in 1925. In our time only 5 such coins are known. Two of them can be seen in the State Museum of Art, the rest are in the collections of Goznak.

For ordinary and even the richest collectors and numismatists, the gold Soviet chervonets, unfortunately, is not available. There is information about an exact copper copy of chervonetz. One such copy was sold in 2008 with an auction for 5 million rubles in a private collection. A year later, another analogue of the Soviet chervonetz was presented at the auction, but the sale was not carried out for a number of reasons. Surprisingly, the money of the USSR is now in demand.

Fifty kopeks of the 1924 sample

Very remarkable and rare is the Soviet coin with a face value of 50 kopecks, which went into circulation in 1924. The lot of the issue was large enough, so most of the copies survived to this day. But this fact does not bother the collectors. The fact is that the coins were minted unequally, each circulation had slight differences from the previous one. There are about twenty variants of such a coin.

That is why the price for a copy of fifty kopecks in 1924 varies from 500 rubles to tens of thousands of dollars. The most rare and valuable is a coin with a coarse inscription, and symbols Ѳ. R.

In addition to the coins described above, there are other, not less valuable money of the USSR, in particular, those that were minted before the Great Patriotic War. Particularly rare silver coins of any denomination, which were issued before 1931. During this period, there was a transition from precious metals to nickel alloys. And all the silver specimens were withdrawn from circulation, so they are of great value for numismatists.
