Painting Camera Equipment & Heating Options Electric Heat Exchanger

Diesel fuel is the standard energy source offered by the suppliers of spray booths. Everyone knows what is happening recently with the cost of oil products. Therefore, more often potential users of paint chambers pay attention to the possibility of using many alternatives as an energy carrier:

- natural gas ;

- electric energy ;

- Combined (hybrid) use of gas and electricity.

To begin with, consider the undeniable advantages of using liquid fuels. The burners for liquid fuel are inexpensive. Thus, solutions based on such burners will be cheaper than the use of gas burners and electro-electric blocks.

The second advantage is the supply of fuel to the burner. Liquid fuel does not require obtaining permits - it is enough to buy a suitable tank, providing it with filters of coarse and fine cleaning.

The only but significant disadvantage of using liquid fuel is the liquid fuel itself, its quality is tested. Dirt, impurities, water present in diesel fuel from suppliers or acquired during transportation, makes the burner vulnerable, the high-pressure pump and injector clog.

The use of gas as a fuel is for small businesses, to put it mildly, a more complicated procedure, and in certain places the use of gas is simply impossible. This solution is most suitable in industrial production where there is a supply of high or medium pressure gas. The electric-electric heating unit requires the supply of electrical communications with a power of 30 to 100 kW, depending on the size of the chamber and the paintwork materials used.

What does the gas burner give ? The cost of fuel is completely different. From the data given below (a comparative table of the cost of energy carriers can be downloaded here) it follows that the use of a burner on natural gas or the use of electric heating will save about 30% of the cost of purchasing fuel within a year.

Hybrid heat generators are used in industrial production under conditions of energy deficit, when one or another source of thermal energy is used depending on the time of day .

The presented figures refer to gas and diesel equipment with heat generators such as "pipe in a pipe". In such a heat generator, the burner is enclosed in a heat exchanger and heats its walls. The supply air is pumped by the fan into the space of the heat exchanger, where it is heated. Such a solution is associated with fire safety requirements and is accompanied by a loss of heat, due to the mediation of stainless steel or aluminum, a transport delay in heat, resulting from the need to heat the heat exchanger.

What is the electrical heat exchanger for the spray booth? It is a duct element with a labyrinthine arrangement of metal-ceramic thermoelectric heaters (heaters) with radiators. The forced air supplied by the fans passes through the TEN labyrinth. The advantages of this solution include:

- direct contact of air with a heat source;

- the "mediation" of the metal of the combustion chamber is excluded;

- Three stages of heating save electricity and allow smooth regulation of power,

Without causing congestion in the electrical network;

- No open fire.

Due to this, thermal efficiency increases by 20%, the efficiency of the electric heat exchanger is 99%!

And some more interesting data. In the painting and drying chamber for furniture with a water screen, the total volume of the working cubicle 170m3, where two phases simultaneously take place - painting and drying, an electric heat exchanger with a capacity of 50kW is installed. In the conditions of intensive production in winter, the device did not have any problems with reaching the temperature in the painting chamber at 25 ° C and 60 ° C in the drying mode of polyester paint simultaneously.

Summing up, it is worth considering whether it is not better sometimes to pay a little more expensive for an economically advantageous spray booth with electric heating, which in the conditions of the city is completely real.

The heat source options considered in this article do not exhaust the topic of the cost of energy carriers in the spray booth. Rather, they only list those factors that should be considered when choosing equipment such as a spray booth.
