Mounting of sockets and switches by one's own hands

Our whole civilization is built on electricity, and its "conductors" - sockets and switches - are in almost every apartment. Their original location in the apartment suits far from all, so it will not be out of place to find out how the installation of the sockets is done by oneself.

In fact, as you will soon see for yourself, there is nothing super complicated in this work, most importantly - accuracy and observance of safety precautions.

The first rule that you need to not just memorize, but memorize by heart - never install outlets and switches when wiring is connected! Before starting work, you must cut off electricity in the apartment!

Choose the place where you will install the sockets. Ideally, they should be located as close to the electrical appliances that you intend to include in them. If you plan to install outdoor sockets, then no additional work you do not have to do, but the installation of internal sockets will require additional tools and efforts.

You will need:

• Drill and crown of the desired diameter;
• Screwdrivers (flat, cross and tester);
• knife;
• pencil;
• Socket and a box for it.

Mark on the wall the place where you intend to mount the sockets in the drywall, attach the junction box to it and circle its contour with a pencil. If at your fingertips there is no drill with a suitable crown, then cut out the necessary circle with a knife. It will not be difficult to do this, as the plasterboard is rather soft material.

Pull the wire into the box and insert it into the slotted hole. Then use screws to secure it to the wall. It should sit tightly in its intended place and not "play", otherwise the socket will loosen up and subsequently fall out of the wall.

The main part of the work is done. Now it only remains to connect the wires. Turn off the electricity. You can do this either from the corridor, if the counter is installed there, or directly from the apartment. If the counter is still an old sample, then just unscrew the plugs, and in the new enough to throw the toggle switch. Before proceeding with the connection, be sure to check the presence of a current in the network with a screwdriver.

With two wire problems there should not be any. You simply clean them with a knife from the insulation and connect them to any terminals. But if you want to connect three wires, you need to be more careful, since one of them is "ground". Wires are best cleaned centimeters by five, stripped cores to ring and attach them directly to the terminals. Such a connection is considered more reliable, besides, because of the greater contact area, the wires will be less heated.

Insert the plug into the box and use the screwdriver to tighten the side tabs. They must securely fix it in the box. Correct the location of the outlet so that it is standing in the wall smoothly, fix the front panel, and you can consider the installation finished. Now you can safely turn on the light in the apartment and connect the electrical appliances you need to the outlet. As you can see, the installation of the sockets does not require any special knowledge and skills, and it is entirely within the power of anyone.
