How to Install an Inkjet Printer And How to Properly Operate It

An inkjet printer is a device that allows you to get a colorful color image on paper or other media. Historically, it was the inkjet printers that were the first devices to receive an image with a quality close to photographic.

The color image in inkjet printing is obtained with the help of the smallest droplets of colored ink, which are thrown out of narrow holes (nozzles) onto the paper. The diameter of the nozzles is measured in tens of micrometers, which is less than the thickness of a human hair. The volume of emitted droplets is now reduced to units of picoliters (pl). This is a very small value! The smaller the volume of droplets, the smaller the size of the color "blob" on the paper, and the better the image.

The quality of the print is determined not only by the size of the droplets, but also by many other parameters. More important is the quality of paper. For high-quality printing, special photo paper is used. But this is not the photographic paper on which they print in photo laboratories. In traditional photo paper, a photosensitive emulsion based on silver compounds is used. In photo paper for inkjet printers, these compounds are not present, it includes several layers, the upper one of which is protective.

Ink for inkjet printers has a complex formula, there may be more than a dozen components. Among them there are those that prevent the ink from drying out in the nozzles. But no matter how sophisticated the chemists and manufacturers, the ink in the nozzles still dries up, because they are very thin.

The design of inkjet printers takes this into account, so the first thing an inkjet printer does after turning on is cleaning the nozzle. In this case, the bunches from them are pushed out with leaky ink. Thus, some of the ink is used not for printing, but for technical needs. This reduces the life of the cartridge.

In order for an inkjet printer to work "long and happily," several rules must be followed when operating it. The printer should not stand near radiators or under direct sunlight. This speeds up the drying out of the nozzles.

To maintain the nozzles in working order, it is necessary to do a full color test print once a week once a week with a continuous filling of the sheet. If you do this less often, you will experience print quality problems.

When working, it often happens that the ink of one color ends. Typically, the printer software warns that the ink is about to expire soon. As soon as the ink runs out, the cartridge should be replaced immediately. This is especially true if the cartridge is refilled with ink.

If you skip this point, in the case of thermal inkjet printing (which is used, in particular, in printers of the firms "Hewlett-Paschard", "Canon", "Lexmark"), the cartridges or the printhead may be damaged. The fact is that in the case of thermo-jet printing, each nozzle chamber contains a miniature heater.

In addition, in addition to its main function, the ink also cools the chambers and nozzles. If they stop coming, there will be no cooling. In this case, the printing unit will be irreversibly damaged.

The cartridge has pads that can not be touched with fingers. Otherwise, the quality of the cartridge's contact with the printer may deteriorate, causing a decline in print quality. If necessary, the contacts of the cartridge can be cleaned with a special cleaning liquid or ethyl alcohol.
