How are disability groups defined and what are their criteria?

If a person acquires full or partial incapacity due to the suffered injuries (including industrial), serious illnesses or birth defects, he is classified as a disability category. According to the degree of complexity of the disease, there is a division into groups of disability, which are divided into three categories.

So, the first group of disability is attributed to patients who acquired defects that led to persistent violations of the basic functions of the body's vital functions. Such violations lead to complete disability or to a restriction of self-service. As a rule, the disabled of the first group can not service themselves without assistance, they can not do without care from outside, are incompetent, can not work independently and provide for themselves. Such patients are completely dependent on the second person who helps them. Diagnoses for which this group is established are incurable or only curable partially.

The criteria for determining the disability group are as follows: the degree of difficulty in hearing, sight, olfactory, touch, damage to the musculoskeletal system, the ability to control behavioral responses, the level of learning, orientation in the space and the level of ability to work. In turn, each of the above criteria is divided into degrees (they are divided into three main). The higher the degree of complexity, the harder the disability group. Groups of disability determine the level of mutilation that a patient has.

The second group of disabilities includes patients with an orientational ability, the ability to communicate, and the possibility of doing second-degree work. Thus the patient can be trained only in specialized educational institutions where only specialized general educational programs should be used. People of the second group of disabilities can work only in those conditions that are created specifically for them, they must comply with a certain mode of work, which includes the alternation of work and rest, observance of medical prescriptions. In a room where a disabled person of the second group works, there should be constant access to medical care, as well as the opportunity to work at home.

Representatives of the third group of disability - people with persistent health problems, but quite adequate and capable. In their case, there is a moderate restriction of life and capacity, they need to provide social protection and assistance. To the ailments of this group are violations in which the patient can not load himself physically, his work volumes are reduced by about a quarter of the total. As a rule, such people will find it hard to master a new profession or to receive an education, which is associated with great physical and emotional stress.

Groups of disability and the degree of their complexity suggest that patients should be constantly observed by the attending physician, regularly undergoing re-commissions, which are designed to monitor any changes in the patient's state of health.

Patients of any group of disabilities are subject to changes in the state of health, which can occur both in the direction of improvement, and in the opposite direction. This means that the slightest violation of the patient's physical or psychological health should not be left without the doctor's attention. In many respects it depends on the patients themselves, who must strictly follow all the instructions and prescriptions intended for them. Cooperation in this matter is one of the criteria for the success of treatment!
